DIY Lazy Kates | The Homespun Life
https://homespunlife.wordpress.com/2010/05/23/diy-lazy-kates
May 23, 2010 at 8:07 am. At the risk of vexing the fiber gods with my hubris, I have to say it’s been a pretty spin-tastic week. :-). But I digress…. Thanks to Ravelry and my frenemy, Google, I found some great links to DIY kates, as well as some lovely blogs. So, here are instructions for:. A 6-bobbin kate from the blog Unravelling. A 4-bobbin kate from the blog Sharp Pointy Objects. Another 4-bobbin kate from Sewwhatsports. Here’s a pic from the Ashford site. Entry filed under: Spinning. 8230;] I still...
You Can Comb Fiber in My Bed | The Homespun Life
https://homespunlife.wordpress.com/2013/07/29/you-can-comb-fiber-in-my-bed
You Can Comb Fiber in My Bed. July 29, 2013 at 10:49 am. Fiber mania hits a new high or low, depending on how you look at it. I actually sat in bed one night last week (PJs and all) and combed some washed-but-still-manky Shetland locks to get the dirt and VM out of the tips. Though I put a cloth on my lap and attempted to keep the mess under control, there were still crumbles in the bed. Let’s hear it for spouses that understand the insanity that is fiber addiction. May 30, 2013 at 8:20 pm. Spring is the time when the frogs return and I’m suffering from a plague. Not of frogs, but of frogging. Inspired by one of my knitting/blogging heroes, Mary Scott Huff. Of course, some of the frogging is due to my inability to just follow a pattern as written (this applies to recipes as well). The pattern is for a Bosnian slipper sock, and it is part of a Craftsy class called Knit Sock Workshop. I much prefer curves and organic shapes. And then I had to take it a step further an...

Let’s Make a Deal. June 5, 2013 at 4:29 pm. Of all the wisdom imparted to me by my mom, there was one thing I think she missed–or I might not have been listening. Here it is:. Life is All About Trade-offs. To be honest, Mom. Say “No one said life was going to be fair” and that’s certainly a corollary! Think about the things we trade off every day:. Fashion vs. comfort. Time working vs. time with family. Time with family vs. me time. Doughnut vs. swimsuit. Would I give up a home improvement project? Fill ...

Crafty Lenk: How will I ever find time???
http://craftylenk.blogspot.com/2014/01/how-will-i-ever-find-time.html
Wednesday, January 15, 2014. How will I ever find time? I'm using the Attic Windows setting. This photo doesn't really do justice to the block, but I think the finished product will be really nice. Sure hope she likes it! Annnndd, I'm even thinking ahead to the next quilt after the baby quilt! A great nephew is in the Air Force and I think it's time I make a quilt for him and his wife. I'm tossing around patterns - flying geese (to honor his service)? Yesterday was another followup visit with the medical...

Monday, October 17, 2011. It turned out really nice, don't you think? The quilt is not the only thing that has taken up my time. I mentioned earlier this summer that I was working on a surprise for a friend. I gave this witch wall hanging to a fellow SWAN who very nicely gave me a quilt hanger. I felt moved to make something for her. Here it is the way she has it hanging in her house. The one I made is on the left and seems to go quite well with the other door decoration she uses. So, now you're up to da...

Thursday, July 28, 2011. Back in the Groove. I thought you might also want to see the fabrics that I'll be using for the borders and the backing. I'll use either the yellow or the green for the second border and the other one will be used for the backing. My next task will be to decide which one to use for the binding. Fortunately, that won't be an issue for a while. But maybe I'll take a nap first. Links to this post. Sunday, July 24, 2011. What do I do? The pattern I'm testing is English paper piecing ...

Sunday, September 5, 2010. Motivation.or the lack thereof. Where have I been recently? A long time ago, I realized that I can't start a new project until the one I am currently working on is finished (or I acknowledge that I have lost interest in it and put it away for a future time). This quilt is about 2/3 finished so I don't know why I can't seem to focus on finishing it. Anybody have suggestions? Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Deana's Fabrics and Fibers. Knits for Needs: Winding down....
http://knitsforneeds.blogspot.com/2013/07/winding-down.html
Thursday, July 11, 2013. Hi all. I am tidying up to close down Knits for Needs. I plan to send all the items that I have to Handmade Simple Comforts - Mrellan, who head up that charity. Here are some recent items that have been sent to me along with some money for shipping! Here are two charities that have contacted me since I have posted about dissolving Knits for Needs: Handmadesimplecomforts@gmail.com and Walking with Orphans, which has a group on Ravelry. If you want to follow them. Coming to a close.

A day in the life of an urban farm. Shirehouse Farm is an Urban Farm located in Madison Wisconsin. Run by Steve and Cindy Colombo we founded the farm with our front yard vegetable garden when we bought our house in 2007. Since then we have added fruit trees, berry bushes, chickens, meat rabbits, bees and expanded the gardens. I love my chickens! The new adventure is body care products, some using eggs from my girls and honey and beeswax from Steve’s bees. It is a day in the life of an urban farm! I will ...

Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Where has the year gone? Heaven help us if the day arrives when I can't do some kind of needlework! My stitch group has an ornament exchange each year at Halloween and Christmas. I didn't participate in the Halloween swap last year, but I did for Christmas. The ornament I made is on the left. Sarah drew the short straw and was the recipient of my ornament. Teresa made the one on the right and I was fortunate enough to draw hers. Isn't it lovely? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Monday, July 12, 2010. Quilting bee. That phrase conjures up an image of several women sitting around a quilt and adding their stitches to make a finished product. The frame is usually set up in one of the women's living room (parlor? No matter the shape of the conversation on any given evening, we do visit with each other - a lot! Since I'm the newbie of the group, I'm still learning more about these folks. After gatherings like last week when there was an abundance of conversation, I come home and ...

My Shop Firefly Farm Goods. Wednesday, February 28, 2018. It's a warm, blustery, 60 degrees F, on this last day of February. On our walk I noticed a dandelion in bloom and, in my garden, the tulips are starting to push up out of the soil. The bud's are swelling on the lilac bushes, and we heard the very first Canadian geese fly overhead last week. There is also a winter storm watch for this weekend! Links to this post.
