Ramblings about a far island. Happy 2400th Birthday to Stari Grad! Stari Grad 2400 Celebrations and Days of the Bay Festival This year marks the 2,400th anniversary of the founding of Faros by Greek settlers. It’s Stari Grad’s official entry into recorded history, although there was actually an Illyrian settlement in place already. If only they’d also written things down, we’d probably need 3,000 candles on … Continue reading →. The Walls of Asseria – ancient Liburnian settlement and Roman town. For most...

Flora & Fauna | Go Hvar

Ramblings about a far island. Filed under Flora and Fauna. Hvar’s wildlife: butterflies. Butterflies always seem so fragile, so transient. So it came as quite the surprise when I read that (a) there are butterfly fossils dating back around 56 million years, and (b) the Painted Lady appears to hold the record for the longest return migration, from Africa to the Arctic circle and back! This photograph was … Continue reading →. Guide to Hvar’s wildflowers in the late summer. May in the Vineyards of Hvar.

India Outside My Window: August 2013
http://www.indiaoutsidemywindow.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
I always felt like I’d be here forever. Or maybe it’s just because I feel happy and content here and would like to stay forever. I could never imagine leaving India. “Someone will have to drag me away, kicking and screaming,” is what I thought. But all things come to an end. And change is something which has to be accepted. I feel very fortunate that for the past 6.5 years I have been able to live here continuously. I know I’ll be back, but something tells me it won’t be the same. It won&...I don’t...

Bread Story: About / Kontakt
http://teodoraa26.blogspot.com/p/kontakt.html

Mein Mann ...

Vrboska diary – a painter’s view | Go Hvar

Ramblings about a far island. Vrboska diary – a painter’s view. This entry was posted on August 11, 2015 by Mara. It’s fun to take my sketchbook along on a walk instead of the camera, although it doesn’t half slow down progress! But what I lose in distance covered and numbers of images, I gain in terms of the quality of the scene imprinted on my memory. Places that I’ve sat and sketched are much more vivid in my mind, even years later. Three bridge, Vrboska. Old boat on the shore. Sometimes it’s no...
