Tanzania or Bust: March 2010
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Monday, March 29, 2010. Today I saw a man with no arms and no legs. My friends and I used to tell jokes that start like this ("What do you call a man with no arms and no legs.") and end with some situation (."in a hole? Or "in a lake? With the punch line being some man's name that fits the question (i.e. Phil or Bob). These were slightly amusing to tell, I suppose.perhaps more amusing to create.but we told them anyway. Tanzania or Bust: Amsterdam is awesome
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010/11/amsterdam-is-awesome.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Sunday, November 14, 2010. Disclosure: I wrote this a while ago, but I forgot to post it and am having trouble getting a video to load so I'm going to share this with you until I get that bug figured out.]. No, not just for those reasons. Amsterdam is awesome because people queue. And when it's your turn, it's your turn. And the guy standing behind you in line does try to (or get to) cut in front of you just because all he has to buy is one kilo of sugar. I cam...

Tanzania or Bust: January 2010

Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Friday, January 22, 2010. So in the end, what this does is leave me feeling like an outsider. We have not been living here for 30 years running a company or an orphanage or studying the mating behavior of lions; we have moved here for the next 30 years- we're just another set of students passing through; we are not Tanzanian. It's funny to me that the one place we could actually. Links to this post. Thursday, January 21, 2010. I'm such a girl. Yes, a rat. I ask...

Tanzania or Bust: July 2010

Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Friday, July 30, 2010. Bookshelves, early morning. In particular Green and Purple (see video sidebar, "Reading" as proof). Books with moving parts. The little lion is a finger puppet, who also gets kissed fairly regularly). And a reminder of home. Links to this post. Wednesday, July 28, 2010. Asina, nanny extraordinaire. Remember when I was writing about how much I hated leaving Eleanor with the nanny? Turns out that was just Eleanor's giardia talking. By Carin...

Tanzania or Bust: August 2010
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Hippie days are here again. Tim asked her as she sauntered out of the bedroom, shirtless and sporting her beaded necklace. The answer, pretty darn good, dad. Tattooed hippie (from laying on a watermelon chalk drawing). Links to this post. Monday, August 23, 2010. Links to this post. Friday, August 20, 2010. Like mother like daughter. The day we learned we were having a girl (I will never forget) Tim and I strolled across campus, hand...

Tanzania or Bust: "How does it feel to be back?"
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010/11/how-does-it-feel-to-be-back.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Friday, November 12, 2010. How does it feel to be back? Understandably, when people find out about what I've been doing for the last 10 months I inevitably get one of two questions: (1) "How was that? Or (2) "How does it feel to be back? Perhaps one day I'll have an answer for the former (for now it eludes me), but I do have some thoughts on the later. Things and I find that hard to deal with. I do feel like my experience in Tanzania is somehow going to slip aw...

Tanzania or Bust: June 2010
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. I spend a lot of time writing about Eleanor, and Africa, and Eleanor in Africa. I spend far less time than I should- FAR LESS TIME- writing about my husband, Tim. Do you remember him? In case everyone forgot, Tim is the reason we find ourselves in Tanzania; he is here doing field work/data collection for his dissertation. And right now, he's kicking ass. What does it mean to be kicking ass at doing your field work? Links to this post.

Tanzania or Bust: home sweet home
http://tanzaniain2010.blogspot.com/2010/10/home-sweet-home.html
Our family's year-long adventure in Africa. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. After nearly 34 hours of travel, Eleanor, Kean (my brother) and I arrived safely in Boston. It was a remarkably easy series of flights and thanks to the playrooms in both the Nairobi and Amsterdam airports I had a relatively happy child the whole way. If it weren't for Tim's absence, it would be pretty much perfect. Rebecca @ Tanzania Trio. October 27, 2010 at 9:36 AM. So good to hear you made it alright! But, waaaaaa, miss you guys!
