What We're Drinking. You are here: Home. Greasy Spoons (and Chopsticks): Budoka Ramen. Posted by Nick Kowalski. On December 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment. In the fourth of a series on the Baba-Waseda ramen belt, Nick takes his sticks to the legendary Budoka. What We're Drinking. You are here: Home. Japan Macros Posing as Craft Beer. On March 6, 2015 · Leave a Comment. Suntory will debut its “Craft Select” line in May 2015. Finding decent beer in Tokyo used to be as bitter as a custody hearing. But beer lovers have more to smile about these days. Domestic craft breweries have stepped up, and importers are sourcing decent brews at (increasingly) reasonable prices. Don’t believe me? You can’t do better than to read through the Japan Beer Times. After all, they&...

What We're Drinking. You are here: Home. Café Review: Phonic:hoop (Shinjuku). On August 17, 2011 · Leave a Comment. Far from the madding crowd… Marcus Lovitt asks why cafés like Phonic:hoop are so hard to find. That would seem unlikely, given that café-rich Omotesando or Shibuya actually charge more on average. For a first floor retail space. A preference for big chains? But where are the independent cafés? Only ten minutes walk down busy Yasukuni-dori is Phonic:hoop. A café/bar which goes a long way tow...

The Shochu Handbook | Kick WHAT?

The best and worst of crowdfunding. Skip to primary content. January 25, 2014. Has put together a Kickstarter project to fund his new book: The Shochu Handbook. One of my favorite memories in Japan is buying a premixed bottle of potato shōchū and water at a train station when I was traveling in Miyazaki, Kyushu (famous for potato shōchū). I kind of stunk up the train car (potato shōchū has an infamous odor), but it was a nice, relaxing way to spend the vacation. This entry was posted in kickstarter.

Daily life of a writer in Japan. Asymp; Leave a comment. Merry Commercial Japanese Christmas! I spent the day at a friend’s place near Tsukiji (the famous fish market) and walked around Ginza on this bitter cold sunshiney day. Here’s a little of what Christmas looks like in Tokyo:. So in other words… like any other day. I also went to Muji’s Yurakucho flagship store to see their amazing gingerbread village, built out of all products (at least, as far as the edible bits) they sell there. Next post →.
