Swallowboat RAID at Mylor, near Falmouth | Daisy Grace

Baycruiser 20 no. 1. Old Blogspot Blog For Daisy Grace. Swallowboat RAID at Mylor, near Falmouth. A week sailing in the sun (mostly) with the odd doldrum. Mylor is a lovely spot, and a fleet of Swallowboats made it even more so. Just about every model there. This is what a brand new Baycruiser 20 looks like. No. 10, which was launched at the RAID. Looking very smart with teak trim. Basil, her owner was a delightful friend during the week. This entry was posted in Uncategorised. 7th July 2015 at 10:44 pm.

Raising sail | Building a Guillemot

Building an Iain Oughtred 11ft 6in Guillemot dinghy. The wind died down, so I yanked the cradle outdoors, threaded the halyard through the hole at the top of the mast (yes, I remembered) and hauled up the sail. It took a couple of goes to get the halyard and download positions right. They are just lashed on, so I will have to mark their positions some how. I don’t want to drill the bamboo, so I hope lashings will hold everything in place under use. 5 comments on “ Raising sail. I think bags are the only ...

On Lines, Drawings and Models. M Hans Liebert on Strongback. I Know Enough To Be Dangerous. February 15, 2015. I’ve been working through some of the small fittings required for the Tammie Norrie and her rigging – I have a couple of flatsawn rough white oak planks that aren’t clear or straight enough to piece together into larger objects, but can be milled into smaller fittings. The white oak is quite well seasoned, and mills nicely:. A two-piece half of a gaff jaw:. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

On Lines, Drawings and Models. M Hans Liebert on Strongback. I Know Enough To Be Dangerous. April 26, 2015. As Spring finally arrives in Brooklyn, I’ve had the opportunity to finally finish setting up the strongback and molds. Our backyard is concrete, lumpy and sloped to a center drain, so leveling the whole thing took a bit of work. 2 thoughts on “ Strongback. Nice to see something “boat shaped,” eh? I managed to get good glue coverage and nice uniform glue lines – the next step will be to use the CNC to surface the transom blank down to the specified 7/8″ thickness. July 13, 2014. July 13, 2014. After much dreaming, I’ve started building a 15′ gaff-rigged sloop in the backyard (for eventual use at the Sebago ...

Milling the Apron | Being Clay-Youman

On Lines, Drawings and Models. M Hans Liebert on Strongback. I Know Enough To Be Dangerous. October 6, 2014. With some trepidation, I’ve started on the first big test of this building method – making the inner stem. I suppose making things on a CNC mill is a big time-saver if you have a big-iron mill with automatic tool changing, and you’re making repetitive parts out of consistent stock. This project has none of those aspects. Setup for gluing in the routed ‘caul’. On Lines, Drawings and Models. Fill in...
