Jen & Tam Down Under

Jen and Tam Down Under. Tuesday, 9 February 2010. I have a lovely new camera, thanks to Len, which is capable of taking half decent pictures of the moon - one of my first attempts above - I'll keep working on it! Exploring the delightful spider lilies beneath the mango tree on the drive. Unfortunately there's a jumping ants nest here - little did we know - we've all, Tam, Jenny and Milly, now been bitten - such are the risks of mango harvesting! Aside from the mangoes, this has been a particularly good y...

Jen & Tam Down Under: January 2009

http://jenandtam.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Jen and Tam Down Under. Saturday, 31 January 2009. Biggest Plant with Biggest Flower. Competition has to be this beast of a plant (shown above) growing at the end of our drive. This is how it looked a couple of weeks ago when we noticed a giant asparagus-like flower-spike emerging from amongst the huge leaves. And this is how it looked this morning. The flower-spike must be about 30 foot tall now, and rising! Coffee machine. My wife is a happy woman, with breaks enhanced by the divine smell, taste an...

Jen & Tam Down Under: Blue Knob birds enjoy the Aussie bird life!

http://jenandtam.blogspot.com/2009/08/blue-knob-birds.html

Jen and Tam Down Under. Saturday, 29 August 2009. Blue Knob birds enjoy the Aussie bird life! One morning whilst Tam was away in the UK in August, I sat on the deck eating breakfast and noticed a sulphur crested cockatoo sitting in a nearby tree munching away on a big seed. It held onto the branch with one claw and held the huge seed in the other, taking big bites and chewing, as if eating an apple! I was utterly mesmerised. In stark contrast to sulphur crested cockatoos, are the regal and stately yellow...

Jen & Tam Down Under: January 2010

http://jenandtam.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Jen and Tam Down Under. Saturday, 9 January 2010. Tam's shot of a White-tailed black cockatoo. Feeding in a nearby silky-oak. We found this alien creature on our kitchen wall recently - apparently its a moth.any further information would be useful! This poor little Azure Kingfisher. Flew into our patio doors and sat stunned for a few minutes, before flying off. Going up a tree in the garden and a blue-tongue lizard. Going down the side of our house! The chortling Noisy Friar Bird. S intricately woven bow...

http://jenandtam.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Jen and Tam Down Under. Sunday, 26 October 2008. Eight Months since leaving Blighty! I'm sitting here listening to Massive Attack (some things never change), Tam and my nephew Charlie (recently arrived from Eire) are in the kitchen chatting and preparing dinner and I'm enjoying my screen time! We have no TV. No DVD player and no broadband, which is great! Listening to music and. We have local Nim FM. I definitely suffered culture shock. And having the chickens. Tam has finished the deluxe chicken house (...

Jen & Tam Down Under: November 2008

http://jenandtam.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Jen and Tam Down Under. Sunday, 23 November 2008. Electric Storms and Random Reptiles. Amongst you watching I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. To supply us with an abundance of delicious eggs. One hen has gone decidedly broody, giving Tam some hen-management challenges - Mrs Broody has taken up permanent residence in the nest box and has stopped laying. The nest box,. There's something in the chook-house',. I hear her exclaim and there, curled sleepily and contentedly on the chooks perch, is a medium si...
