How Brain Surgery Affected My Everyday Life . . . Asymp; 8 Comments. 1 I am more sensitive . . . Each day, at some point, this crosses my mind: how I can brighten the day of those around me? How can I ease the pain of others? Shouldn’t we allow ourselves to be more sensitive? This is only one of many things that have been running through my mind, quite frequently, since the surgery. I plan to share more soon . . . Living in the UAE. Teaching in the UAE. Asymp; 6 Comments. New School, New Year, New Goals.

Living in the UAE. Teaching in the UAE. Asymp; 6 Comments. Sad to say that I have lived in the UAE for two years and only now I am buying some abayas! At my new school most of the teachers wear abayas which I love, so I decided to buy some of my own. For those of you living in Abu Dhabi, I went to Blue Diamond. Larr; Previous post. Next post →. Our first trip was to Oman. We fell in love with this country and it is within driving distance of our home in Al Ain! We have been to Oman twice – the first time to Muscat and the second to Ras Al Jinz to see turtle hatch and lay their eggs. For more on these trips click here. Our second trip, during December 2012, we to Nepal. We were able to explore Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Nagarkot, and Pokhara. The Himalayas were incredible and the people were extremely friendly and honest! This has been probably my fa...

Falling in love with the world. Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Photo of the day - California love. Venice Beach, California. Just want to show California some love! We have great beaches and great weather! Venice is my favorite beach to head to, pull up a towel, and just chill. I think I'm long overdue for a beach date. The cross country season ends in a few weeks and I'll be at the beach to relax about running everyday for the last 7 months. My body could use the little break.and the sun! Photo of the day.

Neither Here Nor There: March 2014
http://neitherherenorthere-megan.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Monday, March 31, 2014. This was the first weekend in a month that I haven't been out of town or had out of town guests, so I was really excited to have a low key weekend. Houston even cooperated and delivered some incredible Spring-time weather! Two of my favorites- now FOURTH graders! Who put all this (super gaudy) furniture in my house? I'm only a little bit sad it's not ours anymore. We ended the night with fajitas and margaritas at one of our favorite Mexican food places. Sun roof weather- finally!

Uganda Journey
Friday, May 18, 2007. It was probably the hardest thing to do! Some of the mamas started to cry as I was saying goodbye. The children were asking over and over when I was going to return. They had a going away party for me up at the school in the two classes I taught in and all the kids made me cards! They were so cute, it was the quietest party I have ever seen when it comes to kids though. They all just sat there eating their cookies. I was good, I didn't cry until I had completly walked away! It is wo...

Thursday, May 7, 2009. But instead 1.2.3.eggplant! So I was really excited to eat lotsa cheese. However, although the dishes did have cheese, they were flavorless or sweet as sugar- nothing like normal cheese. Strange, but still good. After we ate we went horseback riding. I opted for the pretty white horse, which backfired pretty quickly. Apparently my horse was too pretty to do work (I got the Anwesha of horses! Later that evening, we walked around the farm then settled into our yurt (yes a yurt! The n...
reflexive orientalism | the sights and sounds of self-exploration
The sights and sounds of self-exploration. How will i explain this. July 23, 2012. Over dinner, after asking what my parents would think of him, and whether I’ve been to Paris, he asked a question that I’ve been silently struggling with myself. How will I explain this to people back home? What will I say about him? How will I explain the manooshi from Zaide’s kiosk that costs 2000LL, or less than $2, for tangy zataar and olive oil toasted on bread? And now for some pictures of me drinking. July 15, 2012.

Belgium Jenna 1 semester =? Sunday, April 4, 2010. 4 countries in 6 days? Since my last post, I have been busy traveling, exploring, and worrying about getting everything accomplished that I want to before my time is up. It's been a whirlwind adventure to say the least! As a continuation of the last entry, here are a few pictures of the weekend my mom visited Brussels. We had such a great time! You be the judge. It was like out of a movie- we were parched and waiting in an all white room with no windows&...
From Pekanbaru to You
From Pekanbaru to You. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. A Riddle, Or Not. The answer to your question – Yes. Yes, I’m happy to be home. Yes, I miss Indonesia. Yes, hot water showers are as glorious as I expected them to be. And yes, my mind is spinning with everything I’ve learned, everything I experienced, and everything I’m getting ready for. If you ask me this. Question – “So, how was Indonesia? 8221; I immediately froze – what was I doing? 8221; They encompass all genres; some are comedy, some tragedy, some ...
