The Photo Way: November 2012
http://thephotoway.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, November 25, 2012. I already wrote my post on our trip to Arizona. A while back, but I've been meaning to post some of the film shots that I took with the Xpan while I was there. I used almost all of my remaining Kodak E100VS. Posted by Bill Allen. Baltimore Grand Prix 2012. Canon 1D Mark II. Canon 400/5.6 L USM. CF or SD cards. That's not to say that I wouldn't recommend tickets. The general admission will get you plenty of cool places to watc...
The Photo Way: October 2014
http://thephotoway.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Saturday, October 25, 2014. Return to Steamer Lane. As I mentioned in my bag post. One of my goals during the trip to northern California was to get in some good surfing photography time. Was it worth lugging the 1D Mark II (and its enormous charger) and the 400/5.6 for just one morning of shooting at Steamer Lane. Posted by Bill Allen. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. The tl;dr version is that the Fuji's sensor doesn't quite. I really enjoyed the aperture and s...

Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, October 27, 2013. Just got back from Europe last week. My wife and I flew into Paris, took trains to Heidelberg, Wurzburg, Rothenburg, Fussen, then flew out of Venice. Needless to say, it was quite a trip. Post in mind. Here's the breakdown:. Because I just couldn't resist the urge to take it, even though it's really heavy. Because I wanted to take a Leica, and it's lighter than the M6. Leica 90 f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit. Sea to Summit Soft Cell. For the ...
The Photo Way: Bagging the Bay Area
http://thephotoway.blogspot.com/2014/10/bagging-bay-area.html
Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Saturday, October 18, 2014. Bagging the Bay Area. Another year, another trip, another bag shot ( last year. This time, the destination was the Bay Area of northern California. The bag is the same, but the contents are almost completely different. Because I can't seem to leave it behind on big trips, and I had an unfinished roll of Velvia inside. Canon 1D Mark II. Canon 400/5.6 L USM. Manhattan Portage Europa Medium Messenger Bag. Sea to Summit Soft Cell.
The Photo Way: The Shot: Great Sand Dunes National Park
http://thephotoway.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-shot-great-sand-dunes-national-park.html
Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, May 3, 2015. The Shot: Great Sand Dunes National Park. Canon 5D, 70-200/2.8, 200mm, 1/125, f/8, ISO 200, polarizer, tripod, Lightroom 4. This was somewhat inspired by QT Luong's post. In this case, proceed to 37° 41.240'N, 105° 33.213'W. Along CO-150 about an hour before sunset. Any later, and the shadows of the dunes may be too long. The San Luis Valley is an amazing place, even without the dunes. I highly recommend a visit. Happy shooting! The Sh...

Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, November 2, 2014. The plan was simple: hike four miles in, another four miles in, then eight miles back out, preferably downhill most of the way. The trick was finding the right trail. After pouring over maps for several hours in June, my friend Peter. And I finally decided on the Gore Creek Trail near Vail. After carbing up at Chipotle in Silverthorne, we drove over Vail Pass then hit the trailhead ( 39° 37.660'N, 106° 16.485'W. Being back at the ...

The Photo Way: May 2015
http://thephotoway.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, May 10, 2015. The Shot: San Luis Valley. Canon 5D, 70-200/2.8, 100mm, 1/15, f/11, ISO 100, tripod, Lightroom 4. There's a nice, wide shoulder, but make sure to pull off as much as you can since the cars are zipping along at a good clip on this unwavering portion of US-160. Even has some water that can make for a good foreground on a still morning. There's plenty of time to explore in the middle of the day when the light is bad. Posted by Bill Allen.

Travel light, speak softly, carry a good camera. Sunday, April 21, 2013. Prints available on Etsy. I'm happy to announce that four prints are now available via ThePhotoWay shop. On Etsy. I hope you'll take the time to check it out, buy a print (or four), tell all your friends, and get them to tell all their friends. That's not asking for too much, is it? Seriously though, any support for this site is much appreciated. Thanks! Posted by Bill Allen. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Photography, Travel, Software.

Think Tank Day 5. And a second paper. Again, for my Introduction to International Relations class. Concept Paper 2: Anarchy. While liberalism (especially neo liberalism) may admit that international politics is an anarchical system and that states are the key actors, they would argue that within such a system, war is not inevitable and that it can be minimized and prevented through cooperation and participation within international organizations. (Lain). While such instances challenge sovereignty and hig...
