The day I had been dreading had arrived. The day that, not once but twice this year, I thought would be my first real Mother's Day. Instead, it is a reminder to me of what I don't have. Their own mothers in the flesh, because they don't have. A good relationship with their mother, or even because they feel they personally don't have.

Sunday, March 23, 2014. I’m feeling a bit sentimental. We're closing a chapter of our lives as we move from Spokane to Bellevue this week for Joe's last clinical internship with Seattle Children's Hospital. With that comes a lot of goodbyes, and a lot of emotions about the past two and a half years. My thoughts this week have been a whirlwind of sadness and peace, loss and gratitude, fear and excitement. More on the fear and excitement later. This week we said goodbye to the missionaries in our ward.

August 26, 2012. Welcome Eli Jensen Balli! So happy to have had a wonderful delivery and finally have him in my arms:) Eli was born at 8:10 pm on Tuesday, August 21st 2012, after a 10 hour labor. It was quite windy, so we only got out on the ocean one day. The fishing wasn't too good this trip, however one guy did bring in a 255 lb. black sea bass, but unfortunately it wasn't any of us!
