John Taylor, 1969-2002. Many people knew of John through his fell-running, where he performed at international level and holds the course records for many British fell races. He has also performed at the highest level in other athletics disciplines – including duathlon, cross-country, and road-running. Donation from Broughton Runners. Thanks to the dedication of the team of cake bakers and sellers at the 2014 Junior Uphill Championships, based at Turner Hall Farm in the Duddon Valley, Broughton Runners were able to give a donation of 150 to the John Taylor Foundation. The Trustees sent a letter of thanks to the club highlighting how this money will be spent raising awareness of Cardiomyopathy and helping junior athletes. News Items will appear on this page.

The John Taylor foundation for young athletes is a charitable trust set up in 2002 to honour John’s memory in a fitting way, through the sport that he loved. It was registered as a charity, # 1101008, on 3rd December 2003. The objects of the foundation are:. John Taylor died suddenly and unexpectedly. The post mortem revealed that he had died from cardiomyopathy, an enlarged heart. We cannot be sure if the condition was genetic, or viral.
