An Australian author of literature for young adults. For primary school readers. The Girl who Fell Into a Book. Where did you grow up and go to school? I grew up in outer suburban, deeply bogan Perth. I was asked to leave school by my principal at the beginning of Year 11, and so technically I have never finished high school. I have got a bunch of degrees to compensate, though. When did you start writing? How would you describe yourself? Neurotic yet occasionally sociable. Who do you admire? Where do you...

An Australian author of literature for young adults. For primary school readers. The Girl who Fell Into a Book. Julia Lawrinson was born just after the first moon landing and grew up in the outer suburbs of Perth. She jointed the WA Youth Theatre Company as a teenager, then performed, toured and appeared on television with comedy group Viable Options in her early twenties (think Amy Shumer times three with harmonies). Have you got your Vplates? - Writing in the margins
http://julialawrinson.livejournal.com/18899.html
Writing in the margins. Have you got your Vplates? January 31st, 2010. When I read this. By Alexandra Adornetto, I wasn't sure whether to laugh, cry, or wonder whether I'd woken up in 1950. (I will try to put down some of the more naive comments to her youth, but Tony Abbott. Has no excuse.). But I want to ask: why are we having this debate about virginity? Why the focus on what young women are or aren't doing? Where is the discussion of young men's behaviour - which to me would seem the more worrying?

Writing in the margins. Entries by tag: yes. February 14th, 2010. No, this isn't a reference to the Great Virginity Debate. It was a new year's resolution of sorts, and so far it's bearing fascinating fruit. Is my tenth publication in ten years. Last year I was overwhelmed by the dayjob and other projects, and I was frustrated at all the writing-related things I had to say no to. So this year, prompted by a comment by a friend (thanks Danae! The first chapter for The Age MS Readathon.

[1]. Public schools) go to university, they do as well as their peers from medium and high socio-economic backgrounds. [2]. As someone who never finished high school but subsequently gained several university qualifications, including a PhD, I am cheered to find that I am part of such a surprising statistic.

julia lawrence | An average Jane on health and nutrition
An average Jane on health and nutrition. SUPERWEEDS (beating the GMO crops at their own game). October 31, 2013. Advocates and opponents of GMOs seem to be in agreement (at least for the moment) that genetically modified crops [probably] aren’t harmful to our health. Why, then, the opposition? Many argue it’s simply a case of transparency: that people deserve to know where their food comes from/how it has been grown. Okay, maybe not stronger, but certainly immune-r. So, what to do? So, there’s the ...

It’s Autumn 2012. My book has fallen like dead leaves. Although we are cautioned, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”, we all do. Who knows, maybe if I spruce it up a bit, it will be more visually interesting and garner more interest. Wish me luck! Little by little one walks far.- Peruvian Proverb. What did I know? So, as the book came together over the days, weeks and months, I would go to bed each night and wonder “Where did that come from? I don’t know. Features: Rowan and Ciaran. 1913-1996), from his ...
