Have you got your Vplates? - Writing in the margins

https://julialawrinson.livejournal.com/18899.html

Writing in the margins. Have you got your Vplates? January 31st, 2010. When I read this. By Alexandra Adornetto, I wasn't sure whether to laugh, cry, or wonder whether I'd woken up in 1950. (I will try to put down some of the more naive comments to her youth, but Tony Abbott. Has no excuse.). But I want to ask: why are we having this debate about virginity? Why the focus on what young women are or aren't doing? Where is the discussion of young men's behaviour - which to me would seem the more worrying?

Chess Nuts launch - Writing in the margins

https://julialawrinson.livejournal.com/19409.html

Writing in the margins. February 20th, 2010. The chess pieces were courtesy of the Fremantle Council, at the instigation of Sally from the Fremantle Children's Literature Centre: the Centre was a glorious place to have a launch on a sultry summer's evening (even if we were all rendered perhaps a trifle too windswept and interesting after a stint on the verandahs! And many thanks go to Lesley Reece, Mailee, Sally and the rest of the crew for all their hard work. Tags: chess nuts launch.

Just say yes - Writing in the margins

https://julialawrinson.livejournal.com/19066.html

Writing in the margins. February 14th, 2010. No, this isn't a reference to the Great Virginity Debate. It was a new year's resolution of sorts, and so far it's bearing fascinating fruit. Is my tenth publication in ten years. Last year I was overwhelmed by the dayjob and other projects, and I was frustrated at all the writing-related things I had to say no to. So this year, prompted by a comment by a friend (thanks Danae! The first chapter for The Age MS Readathon. S YA novel, Sugar Sugar. Hey that's all ...

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: Yes, Still Alive...

http://anthonyeaton.blogspot.com/2012/09/yes-still-alive.html

Thursday, September 20, 2012. Yes, Still Alive. Two months. A new record, I suspect. Though in my defense, I've been busy. Very, very busy. And doing some writing, too! In fact, just a few minutes ago, I (finally) shot off draft #5 of 'The Hunter' to my agent Cheryl, and now I've got my fingers (and toes, and.anything else that'll help) very tightly crossed hoping that she likes it. Oh, yeah, and we bought a kayak. Or at least, it did. Until Imogen pointed THESE. Since that first trip, we've been out eve...

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: February 2012

http://anthonyeaton.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 20, 2012. On Saturday morning, while I was attempting to get through a mountain of laundry, Toby was wandering around the house with a toy camera pointing and clicking. Which gave me an idea;. Turn off the wireless. Fire up my 'Hipstamatic' photography app, which puts all sorts of funky filters across your pictures, all of which are designed – oddly enough – to make your high-tech digital photographs resemble old-fashioned analogue ones. Set said application to randomise. Friday, Februar...

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: December 2014

Wednesday, December 24, 2014. So, Uhm… Yeah. Well Two posts in 12 months. That's gotta be some kind of record, surely? So then, let's start with the apologies. Sorry You know. To anyone who still bothers to occasionally check in here. I'm going to do much better next year, promise. This is primarily because next year:. 1 I've done my 2 year. Stint as course convener, so can go back to not having to deal with mountains of admin that serve many useful purposes, but which primarily suck the joy out of life.

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: December 2013

http://anthonyeaton.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 3, 2013. So… yeah. Hi. Tallish guy, glasses, used to hang around here a bit? I went to Europe for a conference and came back with a buggered ankle caused by falling down the stairs on a train in a most undignified manner, I won a teaching award, finished* The Hunter. Which is currently re-titled Tabula Rasa). There's some other stuff, too, but those are the highlights. At the start of the year, I tried to block out big chunks of my time - a couple of hours each morning - for writing.

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: Musings on the End of a *Busy* Year

http://anthonyeaton.blogspot.com/2012/12/musings-on-end-of-busy-year.html

Monday, December 31, 2012. Musings on the End of a *Busy* Year. So instead, here we are. Time for that traditional 'Year in Review' type post (though, in my case it's more traditional to do it sometime around Feb 25.). Looking back at 2012, I can't help but notice that I've only managed to put up a grand total of 14 blog posts here, including this one. This is a significant drop on the previous three years, but not without reason. Said highlights would include:. Getting the 2012 ACLAR conference organise...

Musings from an Outer-Spiral-Arm: June 2012

http://anthonyeaton.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Friday, June 29, 2012. A quick one. Very Very Quick. Conference last week went well. Swimmingly so, in fact. Lot of happy little campers and a very exhausted (but also happy) me. In fact, I can't believe it's a week already since things wrapped up. Highlights included all three keynotes, Shaun Tan's evening event (after which he signed books for something like an hour and a half - consumate professional that he is! No lunch, and was effectively running on pure caffeine and nerves. Tuesday, June 19, 2012.

It’s Autumn 2012. My book has fallen like dead leaves. Although we are cautioned, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.”, we all do. Who knows, maybe if I spruce it up a bit, it will be more visually interesting and garner more interest. Wish me luck! Little by little one walks far.- Peruvian Proverb. What did I know?
