MissAdventure: May 2013
http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. May 11, 2013. That Secret Thing I've been working on since September, and which I finally get to brag about:. This year, I have had the fortunate privilege of working as project editor on two special editions of National Geographic. Like many adventurous, book-loving kids before me, I long dreamed of working for Nat Geo. And now I can say that, after months of late nights and hard work, that vision is a dream realized. http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/p/writing-fuel.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. Because every writer needs a little something to keep them going. I love baking and when I find a recipe I love intensely, it goes here. I use a pre-prepared 9-inch Graham cracker crust that I just buy at the grocery store ( it’s easy enough to make one yourself if you are motived of course! Im motived but there are limits). 2 cups half and half cream.

Journeys in fiction reading and writing. I love reviewing books that inspire, intrigue or move me. I tend only to review books I really thoroughly enjoy, so this list is more of a recommendations collection than anything else. For a full list of what I'm reading check out the Shelfari list on the right side of the blog. And if you have any recommendations or books you'd like me to review, I'd love to hear about it. http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. December 20, 2013. Poetry Friday, New Years Edition: "The Journey". One day you finally knew. What you had to do, and began,. Though the voices around you. Their bad advice—. Though the whole house. And you felt the old tug. But you didn't stop. You knew what you had to do,. Though the wind pried. With its stiff fingers. At the very foundations,. It was already late. Enough, and a wild night,. And the road full of fallen. But little by little,. Links to this post.

http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. November 30, 2013. November's always been one of my favorite months, because it's filled with opportunities to reflect, celebrate, and be thankful. I'm thankful for my students, who make me laugh, make me think, and make me feel like I hold a valuable place in the world. Whose encouragement, kind words, and "done yet? Emails help me remember how important my writing is to me, and how much I want to continue to pursue it. Links to this post. November 9, 2013. I lov...

Journeys in fiction reading and writing. February 21, 2014. Poetry Friday: "The Act". I love how much this poem suggests without actually stating anything other than this: a flower is considered, then picked. The Act" by William Carlos Williams. There were the roses, in the rain. Don’t cut them, I pleaded. They won’t last, she said. But they’re so beautiful. Agh, we were all beautiful once, she said,. And cut them and gave them to me. Links to this post. February 18, 2014. MissAdventure: July 2013
http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. July 2, 2013. Book Review: The Night Circus. Now, it's not that I'm complaining. It's just that my beginning-of-summer frame of mind made it difficult for me to find the right book to read. I needed something smart and articulate and emotionally weighty, but also something that would grip my mind and hold onto it. At its heart, The Night Circus. With a sprinkling of Jane Austen. And the same magical allure as Harry Potter. Music I'm Writing To:. Links to this post.

MissAdventure: June 2013
http://missadventureporting.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Journeys in fiction reading and writing. June 22, 2013. Other goals include: revising my novel, reading for fun, getting back in shape, cooking, adventuring, learning how to use InDesign (properly).and, you know, writing more interesting and cohesive blog posts. Despite my appalling lack of knowledge about design software, it did manage to make this 'favorite quote' collage for my 11th graders. Recognize any of these literary gems? Links to this post. Just another WordPress.com site. Lesson 3a: Good Today. July 7, 2014. Today I feel good, and my lesson was of a high quality. I’m lucky to develop myself in this field. I’m really blessed with this amazing opportunity! July 6, 2014. Didn’t like my lesson at all today. The lesson was good – my voice, my breath control, the whole technic were a disaster…. Lesson 3: A bit distracted today. July 5, 2014. It’s difficult to control your breath when you want to cry, laugh and love at the same time! July 4, 2014.
Japonisme
The influences of Japan on a girl from the West. Tuesday, August 16, 2011. I've never been very good at finishing things. I am very good at starting things; I wax poetic about new ideas, new ventures, dreams I am just embarking on. But when it comes time to conclude such things, I find I am at a standstill; surprised, and lost for words. My time in Japan shaped who I am and who I want to become. Doesn't that, in and of itself, deserve some sort of resolution? It was said sweetly enough to not be condesce...

Kate J. Armstrong — Freelance Writer, Editor & Teacher
Kate J. Armstrong. Freelance Writer, Editor and Teacher. Beauty Abounds in our National Parks. Photo of the Week. In 2016, as the U.S. National Park system celebrated its centennial, I found myself thinking about what the park system means to me. These parks have been places of refuge to me: places where I went to find rest, challenge, and inspiration. To remind myself that I am small, but a part of something much bigger than my life. These are some of my favorites. This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Saturday, February 12, 2011. Broken Arms, Dogs and Firetrucks. Two Sundays ago Addyson broke her right arm jumping on the trampoline. She came in whimpering and I took one look at her sagging forearm and knew it was broken. I wanted to cry, but, since I'm the mom, I was strong! So, we headed down to Children's at Scottish Rite, downtown. Since her arm had to be re-set, they put her under. We had to wait for the orthopedic surgeon to get out of surgery, and that wasn't until 12:30am! Too tired to care!
