The Green Hills of Africa. One Summer in Equatorial Guinea. May 28, 2009. Where is Equatorial Guinea? Posted by Jim under Background/Info. It’s the tiny red rectangle on the western coast. The Bioko Island portion of the country (where the capital, Malabo, is) can be seen just off the coast of Cameroon. I’ll be spending half of my time in Bioko and half my time in Rí. O Muni (the continental mainland). I'm a rising college senior chronicling my field reportage for a human rights NGO in Equatorial Guinea.
