What I’m Reading. CONTAINER GARDENING 11 FLOORS UP. March 23, 2015 – 10:10 am. The draba are awake and starting to set flower buds. It’s still frosty and occasionally foggy here, so it’s a bit too cool and too early to be mucking about with the troughs yet. What I’m Reading. If you have these easy-to-grow plants in your troughs, you can expect blooms in late March and early April in Zone 3. Draba mollissima, an evergreen, can take temperatures a few degrees below zero. It’s evergreen and starts to set it’s bright yellow flowers in March in Calgary.
