Cooking for the Great Leap Forward: April 2010

http://leftycooks.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Cooking for the Great Leap Forward. I like to eat. I try cook something everyday. I'm not fancy and I try to make it quick. Monday, April 26, 2010. Two weekends ago, before my brother's wedding and the recent pork-a-thalon in Chicago. With Anne and friends, I had some work friends over for a vegan tapas dinner thing. We made loads of food, but I only ended up taking a few pictures as things got a bit crazy. I promised our guests the recipes, but I never posted them! Spanish mushrooms (Blokey's favorite).

Cooking for the Great Leap Forward. I like to eat. I try cook something everyday. I'm not fancy and I try to make it quick. Sunday, May 30, 2010. I have been a woman on a mission. That mission is really frickin' good pretzels, since the stuff they sell on the street here tastes a bit like cab exhaust, pigeon body odor, and frustration. But I'm not being a trendoid. My desires preceded this NYTimes article. On WednesdayI've had my eye on them since Deb reposted her mini pretzel recipe. 2 teaspoons of acti...

Cooking for the Great Leap Forward: December 2010

Cooking for the Great Leap Forward. I like to eat. I try cook something everyday. I'm not fancy and I try to make it quick. Saturday, December 18, 2010. Slightly more healthy banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. And they turned out pretty good, even with the substitutions. This includes some mashed banana in lieu of butter, and the banana's sweetness substituting a lot of sugar. The end result is really something in between a not too sweet but soft scone and a cookie. 1 stick of butter (softened).

Cooking for the Great Leap Forward. I like to eat. I try cook something everyday. I'm not fancy and I try to make it quick. Sunday, June 13, 2010. Quick meals for hot days. It's been warm and muggy in Brooklyn again. And Blokey and I have been working on projects, which means sometimes we snack all day and never eat a proper meal together. (Finn Crisp Rye crackers, what would my life be without you? Everything in the fridge Asian Noodles. 6 oz of Udon noodles, dry. Leftover bagged spinach, chopped. In th...

Away from the Keyboard. Newer posts →. May 31, 2012 · 5:21 pm. One of the pleasures of my life chez ma mère this summer is the ability to take the bus downtown into the nearest city and work for an afternoon or a day in a coffee shop. Away from the Keyboard. July 13, 2012 · 3:30 pm. Style Nation, I am about to do something very bad. Very, very bad, since so many of you are academics. I am going to write about a book that I have not read. I just read an excerpt from a book called Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion. The excerpt is available on Slate. You can buy the book here. Some other observations were amazing as well. Did you know that the average American woman owns 7 pairs of jeans but only wears 4? Also, it is...

As soon as the new cabinets are set into place, the counter top folks will be coming out to measure for the counter tops and then we need to make a day trip to the other side of town to pick out the slabs of granite we want for our kitchen. That will take 2 weeks before they are ready to be installed. So you think, Why doesn't she blog during those 2 weeks while waiting for the counter tops? Links to this post. Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Saturday, February 7, 2015. This is my final post of the day. With this post, it makes six for the day. I wanted to get caught up with the cards that I made over the years and I know there's more that I didn't take pictures of but this feels like an accomplishment to get up-to-date. These are all birthday cards with the exception of a wedding card. January is a busy month for birthdays in my life, including my own. This card what for M's dad. I still struggle with masculine cards. This card was for my mom.

But we all knew better than to assume that it was just another messy love situation going on between the two. Even if either of them were never seen without the other, they just never were for each other. Some people are like that: they might be meant to be together, but not with each other. I guess even A and Z’s parents knew that all too we...Well Midd...
