Here come the girls. Meet the girls; our constant companions and source of much fun. I don’t know their names, maybe they don’t have any, but they live in the pigsty in Cristin yard and emerge mid morning to wait by the gate to come up into the garden. Once there they spend the rest of the day scrounging as much food as possible. They know Jim is a good source if he is filling up the wild bird feeders and follow him around ever hopeful. On windier days they stay in the yard and sunbathe in a cosy corner.

During . . . . Before . . . . As we have already mentioned, we have been working to do a bit of spring clearing at Nant and Ty Capel withies. Part of that work has been to replace the old aluminium ladder into Nant Withy to make access for the bird ringers a lot easier and safer. After no boat for nearly three weeks due to constant winds from the south and west, the long awaited arrival of Colin on Benlli. Was very welcome. As we approach the end of a very disappointing season for owls and kestrels, it was good to find two healthy Hobby chicks to ring in the Vale of Belvoir. Interestingly they were in the same nest as last year and the structure seemed to have grown. Mick P climbed expertly as ever and with a bit of an audience.
