Monday, June 22, 2015. Summer Sensory Bin: Kinetic Sand. Is it just me or did summer show up all of a sudden? Unlike my school SLP friends, I will be working through the summer. That is, until I pop out this baby ( see last post. One of my favorite activities to use with my preschoolers is a good ol' sensory bin (as you can see from my previous post on the Spring Garden Sensory Bin. I love how kinetic sand keeps its shape! The Miscellaneous Musings of Mrs. B.: February 2013
http://www.mrsbslp.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 6, 2013. Once in awhile I truly fall in love with a story and Penguin and Pinecone by Salina Yoon, is one of THOSE stories! It is the cutest book ever and there is SO much you can do with it! Because our classroom is full of great speech/language models it encourages my less verbal/intelligible students to participate too! It's always a treat to hear their thoughts, even the ones I can't translate! The following week we started out by reviewing the story. I made some wh? S and yes/no ...

http://speech-specialed.blogspot.com/2014/06/swimming-with-rainbow-fish.html
June 5, 2014. Swimming with Rainbow Fish. Today is the last day of school. For me, the first and last days are always bittersweet. Days full of excitement and trepidation, fun and uncertainty. By February, we hit the doldrums. Exhaustion sets in. The end feels so far away. Are the kids where they need to be at this point in the year? There's so much left to teach. I'm so fortunate to get to spend my days in the company of these interesting and lovely little humans, these rainbow fish. June 05, 2014.
The Dynamic Duo: The Sensory Break Center

March 22, 2012. The Sensory Break Center. I'm fortunate to have a nice big classroom with space for a Sensory Break Center in my current school. Previously, I was crammed in a tiny portable with several other teachers and had to make do with an overloaded shelf in a closet. This is what I looked like on most days! In this classroom, I have set up an area with the Learning Zone. And Zones of Regulation. Tools If you'd like to download the Learning Zone poster, please click here. The Theraputty, Rubik's Cu...

Speech-Language Pathology, Technology, and Humor. Something to think about. By Mary Huston, MS, CCC-SLP. In our field, billing for insurance and medicaid is a necessary evil (it seems). N the ASHA community page someone commented about billing for medicaid. I’ve heard the discussion before, and it was definitely one of the things I’ve asked about in interviews…but there’s two very different sides. I’d love your opinion on each side. Continue reading →.
