His research has been conducted mostly in rats and his main contributions (with mentors, colleagues and trainees) are:. Autoradiographic mapping studies of brain nicotinic receptors. Identification of nAChRs on mesolimbic dopamine neurons, and the demonstration that dopaminergic neurons are important for some of the arousing and rewarding effects of nicotine.
