Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Friday, December 28, 2012. Rejoining the blogging world. After several months of sulking about the relative boringness of my life in LA, I am going to restart this sucker. Blogging is good for the soul. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I'm reviving the blog as I head abroad again for my dissertation research. Eager to learn, to explore, and to laugh with friends (both old and new) around the world! Stay tuned for my adventures. Diving Headfirst: Johannesburg Update
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2015/02/johannesburg-update.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Monday, February 2, 2015. When I first arrive at a field site and tell people I’ll be there for about two months, it always sounds like such a long time. But somehow I blink- and I’ve already been in South Africa nearly a month! And the students have made me feel very welcome as well. Johnannesburg is quite an easy place to live (albeit a bit gated-suburbia and far too racially segregated for my taste). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Diving Headfirst: June 2012
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Sunday, June 17, 2012. I am blessed to have amazing men in my life. Thanks Dad, for being so incredibly devoted, hard working, and supportive. I could not ask for a more reliable father! I also have been blessed with a grandfather who has been loving, compassionate, and encouraging. Thanks for being such an inspiration! Looking forward to being around for holidays and having the opportunity to give hugs (or even cards) more easily! Thought 1: My frie...
Diving Headfirst: August 2013
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Monday, August 5, 2013. One of my favorite things about my life in Hawthorne is my morning walks with my pets (yes, plural). For about two months now, the cat has decided that she should join the dog and I on our regular strolls around the neighborhood. Scout sticks quite close to us. If we happen to get more than a house ahead of her, she loudly scolds the dog and I for our inattentiveness. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Stay tuned for my adventures.
Diving Headfirst: Whirlwind end to SA
http://lifeontheothersideotheworld.blogspot.com/2015/03/whirlwind-end-to-sa.html
Seizing every opportunity to explore, learn, and love. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Whirlwind end to SA. Alas, my time in South Africa is whirling to a close. The last few weeks at the school in Johannesburg were quite hectic. Then I sped off to a service learning institute in Capetown where I was able to catch up with folks from all over the region. It was so fun to sit and have drinks with people from 3 of my different "homes" abroad at the same table! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My peeps who blog.

Able Ponder: Vacation Pics Round One
http://ableponder.blogspot.com/2015/07/vacation-pics-round-one.html
So we'll never stop wondering. Saturday, July 04, 2015. Vacation Pics Round One. I've been pondering lately the impact of children. One is that the desire to give them a summer full of family, cool water, and adventure compelled K. and I to work our tails off, spend a significant amount of money, and move folks into our places in our town to enable us to take nearly three weeks off as a family. In the middle of produce season, tourist season, tomato season. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
The Pinho Family: August 2010
http://thepinhofamily.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 27, 2010. Thursday, August 26, 2010. TCIS has changed a lot this year with a large influx of new staff. The ELC, where mommy works with staff kids 5 and under, has doubled in size. We've made lots of new friends this year but some of our best buddies are still around. Zachary and Seth are inseparable. They are now in Pre-K and are the only staff kids in the class as well as native English speakers. They are quite a pair! Friday, August 20, 2010. Backyard Barbecue in the TCIS yard. Zachary ...

So we'll never stop wondering. Thursday, February 26, 2015. K sent me some of his Me/Snow Pics. Such a fun day! 6 inches of snow! We've lived here for 8 years and never seen it like this. Thick, fluffy snow that crunches underfoot and makes an excellent snowball. Kids' school is canceled tomorrow. The towns here don't even own snow plows. Happily for the store, the entire morning crew can walk to work :). We've all been depressed with the unrelenting cold and gray. This is a welcome change!

Emilia's España Aventura: November 2009
http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 5, 2009. I think I look a little bit like Lloyd when I drive my scooter. That's right; I am now the proud owner of a scooter! I've been contemplating buying one for months, but impulsively purchased one three weeks ago. It's been exhilarating (carefully! Whipping through the streets and alleyways of my dong (neighborhood). And yes, I wear a helmet every time I ride. She's not fast, but she's my 250,000 won bundle of joy. Any suggestions for names? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Emilia's España Aventura: December 2009
http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 7, 2009. A few weeks ago I took a bus/boat/van trip with my Bible study group to a Korean island called Ulleungdo. The group wanted to get away for some much needed down time, so we decided to head to an island that harvests eighty percent of Korea's squid. It's a random place to go for rest and relaxation, but it turned out to be the perfect spot. Everyone was so cold that we all fell asleep by eight o'clock. EIGHT O'CLOCK ON A SATURDAY NIGHT! Who said teachers weren't exciting?

Emilia's España Aventura: Espana principios....sort of.....
http://enelsonkoreanadventure.blogspot.com/2010/09/espana-principiossort-of.html
Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Espana principios.sort of. That's right. I'm back. It's been too long, but I'm back. Here's the skinny on my new life in Spain: I like my roommates, my new job, and the crazy city of Madrid. I'm still adjusting to the differences between Eastern and Western culture and not being the minority for once, and I still miss Korea quite a bit, but time is always the best medicine. Here's a quick peek at my new life. In front of the palace. Plaza Mayor at sunset.

Monday, April 10, 2017. An Aspie's Dream Reran. I want everyone to know that, for the most part, I am happy. It is my dream that people learn this. I may have some challenges, but I am not defective. Being on the spectrum isn't something to look down upon! Wednesday, February 8, 2017. Discovering Courage and What Inspire Me. Last week I had my 850. Inspirati...

Just another WordPress.com site. 08/12/2006, The Demon Newspaper: “Tony Benn Interview. Shahinaz Nabeeh talks to legendary politician Tony Benn.”. What is your opinion on the claim that there is a clash of civilisations between East and West, and is this is just an excuse for imperialism to further establish itself? What role do you feel the UK is playing in this? Especially that along with all the powerful countries, it is ignoring the real problems in the region? If the world is becoming a global villa...

Life On The Outside
Life On The Outside. Thursday, May 31, 2012. I was released from prison in April, 2011. It was my first month of freedom since December, 1987. I spent 25 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections. Every day I served, I deserved. Truly, I was blessed that I wasn't sentenced to more years. Ultimately, I hurt a lot of people. That is what led me to prison. All of the choices I made as an 18 year old led me to some of the darkest places in the Indiana Department of Corrections. This isn't Shawshank Rede...
