I totally understand what faith and church mean to other people. The sense of community of belonging. Its very powerful. It's just not for me. So I nap and think and struggle. And nap. And nap some more. Mostly nap. Sometimes I think trees must have the answer. Their long life gives them a perspective unlike anything else. If only I spoke tree...I apo...

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. Friday, August 22, 2014. God's Promises Are True. When I first posted about Nick and Hermela's trip to Ethiopia, I stated boldly that we trusted God fully to provide every bit of the money needed even though it was a large sum in a short time. I could say this because we have experienced God's faithfulness to meet our needs over and over again. And, I did and do believe this to be true. Why does that happen?

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. Friday, May 29, 2015. When you have 3 sisters and 3 brothers, it's always a party. Caroline turned 9 and wanted a pool party. When we were done, she asked me to hold her. She's still my baby, even if she is 9! She will hold the spot as our favorite 9 year old for the next 12 days before her "twin" joins her. Then she becomes our favorite 9 year old born in May ;-). Now she's got her own. Board to practice on.

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. Thursday, May 29, 2014. Beach Days and Birthdays. Caroline has been a beach baby, well since the day she was born.literally. I went into labor a few weeks early on Memorial Day while we were at the beach! We drove from the beach, picked up our hospital bag and then went straight to the hospital. Caroline was born at 9:45 pm (just a soon as the on- call doctor finished his day at the lake). Fun in the waves.

Between You and Me. It is a beautiful thing to experience God’s love through his people. It’s life changing. Not everyone can bear the weight of our stories, but there are those friends in our lives who allow us in and offer to come into the most sacred places with us. They see the beauty of our brokennessthey remind us that God is able to bring beauty from the ashes. When our eyes get fixed on our brokenness, they are the people who turn our eyes back to Jesus, our true help. No They’re inside the...
