Daniel in Iraq: I Don’t Remember My Name
http://tophatdan.blogspot.com/2009/09/i-dont-remember-my-name.html
Thursday, September 17, 2009. I Don’t Remember My Name. So I finally made it to the desert. And they do have good dessert here. (chocolate ice cream! As we stood in the rain during our formation on our departure date, there were crows gathered to observe our misery and dampness. Well, really no one knows if they were crows but they were black birds of considerable size and made large dissonant inharmonious obnoxious squawks. Ill omen some said. September 27, 2009 at 3:52 PM. Daniel in Iraq: Rhythm
http://tophatdan.blogspot.com/2009/10/i-feel-as-if-i-really-dont-pay-close.html
Monday, October 26, 2009. I feel as if I really don't pay close attention to time anymore. There is not a rhythm to the weeks anymore just the days. Weekly events happen but they are so minute compared to the rhythm of each day. The times for me to awake, the times for me to retire, the chow times, the work schedule, all these add to the quickened and numbing repetition of the battle rhythm. Readers of feint heart, you can once again read the rhythm of my words. This addiction is letting me look forward ...

Daniel in Iraq: You Thought the Computer was Bad
http://tophatdan.blogspot.com/2009/12/you-thought-computer-was-bad.html
Friday, December 4, 2009. You Thought the Computer was Bad. So, this is extreme enough to be embarrassing. . If you put an addiction to Subarus, an addiction to video games, one of the most awesome steering wheels ever, a bucket seat out of a helicopter, three sheets of one inch plywood, and a soldier with a lot of spare time on his hands together what do you think you would get? So, you see, it just came together. . Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jimeny Cricket was here. Wouldn't you like to know.

Daniel in Iraq: Computron
http://tophatdan.blogspot.com/2009/12/computron.html
Thursday, December 3, 2009. So, a friend of mine walks in and looks at my room one day to find me on the floor cutting a cardboard box sitting with a bunch of wires, hard drives, video cards, and a number of other computer pieces strewn about. He asked me what in the world I was doing. “Putting together a computer,” I said. . 8220;I have to say, you have out nerded the rest of us, congratulations.”. 160; (it was green cause that’s the only color the screen could show, it should have been blue)...

Daniel in Iraq: July 2009
http://tophatdan.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 31, 2009. I loaded up on a bus and took a ride to the general airport. We drug our saggy (not yet full of souviniers) duffle bags through the military security checkpoint and threw them onto the pallats. Walking up to the plane on the tarmac is always fun. Seeing it close enough to see all of the rivets and oil streaks just makes the flight that much more vivid. We took off and I fell asleep. Next thing I knew I was in Texas in all its heat and big everything. Thursday, July 30, 2009. Now th...
