Intrigued, he went up and knocked on the door."Anybody home? He asked."Yep," came a kid's voice through the door."Is your father there? Asked the tourist. "Pa? Nope, he left afore Ma came in," said the kid."Well, is your mother there? Persisted the tourist."Ma? Tuesday, April 8, 2008. THE FOYER IS DONE. Note th...

Logging into Rustic Living: March 2008

http://loggingintorusticliving.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Logging into Rustic Living. Tuesday, March 18, 2008. Cabin in the Woods. The back and side view of the almost finished cabin. You can see the pond out in front of the cabin. The window holes are there, but the windows themselves aren't in yet. Larry made each of the windows by himself. Later on they were all replaced by Anderson windows when we moved in permanently. Note there are still logs on the ground that weren't used. Wednesday, March 12, 2008. Insulating between the logs. The Cabin and Porch Roofs.

Logging into Rustic Living: A Good Start

http://loggingintorusticliving.blogspot.com/2008/03/good-start.html

Logging into Rustic Living. Saturday, March 8, 2008. You can see the doors and windows starting to appear. It's starting to look like a real log cabin The cabin was originally built with a single sliding glass door where Larry is standing. In later pictures you'll see where that was expanded to a 12' wide door! The log protruding out in front is for the porch. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). FEEDJIT Live Traffic Map. Logging into Rustic Living: Cabin Scrapbook

http://loggingintorusticliving.blogspot.com/2008/03/cabin-scrapbook.html

Logging into Rustic Living. Thursday, March 6, 2008. I took pictures but unfortunately we didn't have digital camera's back then, so I didn't take too many pictures. This is the first page of the scrapbook that I compiled. Larry's Dad "Perry" was recovering from a heart attack so was very limited in how much he could get involved in building. He was a logger by trade so he was right in his element and he became "overseer". He owned a tractor with a forklift which we used to lift most of the logs. There w...

Logging into Rustic Living: Burning branches and bark

http://loggingintorusticliving.blogspot.com/2008/03/burning-branches-and-bark.html

Logging into Rustic Living. Friday, March 7, 2008. Burning branches and bark. Some times the fire was humongous. One day a state trooper stopped by to see what was going on. He said the smoke was so bad on the highway that one couldn't see the car ahead of you. He just told us to keep it down a bit. March 7, 2008 at 4:46 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I love the comments my kids are making. I'm sure they remember things that I don't. Our kids are: Steve, Shari, Scott and Sue. Let me tell you.

Friday, April 23, 2010. This post is a continuation of the previous post. Be sure and look at that one first. This first picture is a 1939 motor home. Looks like real siding, with brick look alike around the bottom. The inside was very roomy, had a kitchen, bedrooms and living area. It looked very clutsey though. Thought of the Canary's when I took this picture. There were twice this many. These pictures are for Shari. Larry/Dad said.these remind me of Shari's toy and games , Shari should see this. You m...

Friday, April 23, 2010. Rolling hills, neat farms, huge fields ready to be planted, windmills, green meadows, cattle grazing, dirt roads and windy. Here is a rest area I thought was unusual. IOWA is in huge calligraphy letters on the building and this humongous pen nib. It rained all day, so picture isn't very clear, but you can see some farm buildings in the background. One of thousands of fields ready for planting. Crossing the Mississippi in Iowa. On to Illinois today. My husband Larry and I. Red Bluf...

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. A Fall Biking Vacation. Went to church at the C&MA Church in Glens Falls, NY. Parked our motor home at the Cooper's Cave Park. The beginning of the Regional Bike Trail. Biking here was only about 3 miles, which was. Along the Hudson River. The water falls at Glens Falls, which is on the trail. Remember James Fennamore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohigan's"? He mentions Cooper's Caves in this book. On the overlook at Cooper's Cave. Note Larry's new bike. Two perfect Fall days.

Monday, April 26, 2010. Hey Robin and Kim, I finally found an IKEA to go to. We hadn't planned on going near Chicago, but Larry changed our route so I we'd go near an IKEA. I had a blast looking at all the designer rooms and all the gadgets. I didn't buy a lot, only spent about $30.00 but did get some great ideas. I'd love to have my office ( and Larry's) in the cabin dont over in IKEA. Steve could design it for us. He's good at that. Friday, April 23, 2010. One of thousands of fields ready for planting.
