This is the last post in this series, as people are arriving and the meetings (and socializing) begin in earnest this evening. I’ve gotten a lot of views and social media response to this series, which please me and I do hope people find it helpful! Or this for a live set by The Men. My favorite current band who are playing in Austin on Saturday. I’ve already co...

Discovering Austin - TERN
http://www.fr.tern.travel/discovering-austin
January 10, 2017. Texas’ capital, Austin, is on a lot of bucket lists and with reason! The city’s motto is Keep Austin Weird, which should give you and idea of what to expect. Nonetheless, here’s how to make the best of it. Austin is a foodies’ town. You will eat well and you will eat lots. And because you are in Texas, a BBQ stop cannot be avoided. Several restaurants claim to be the city’s best, but I chose Franklin. Some of the trucks I tried during my trip: Hey! You gonna eat or what? Other restauran...

University of Texas Press: Remembering Josh Ozersky
http://utpressnews.blogspot.com/2015/05/remembering-josh-ozersky.html
Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Since news of food writer Josh Ozersky's untimely death. Hit Twitter, those who knew him have called him the 'maharajah of meat', an 'epic food storyteller', a 'titan', and a 'mensch'. Josh wrote a biography of Colonel Sanders for us ( Colonel Sanders and the American Dream. 2012) and his appetite for life could not be overlooked. He did a book signing at Austin's own Lucy's Fried Chicken. Josh Ozersky talks with food blogger Ilana Sztaimberg during a book signing. So sad to hear ab...

Epicurean Vixen: January 2012
http://epicureanvixen.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Love Food. Love Life. Thursday, January 5, 2012. A good, legit, fried chicken joint. James Holmes (Olivia) has opened Lucy's Fried Chicken on the super south part of South Congress and it is finger-lickin' good. Also, it's super chill, but beautiful. We started with these gorg grilled oysters called "Lucha". Apparently, their wide selection of delicious molluscs are the creative genius of several local chefs.and the Luchas come via Rene Ortiz of La Condesa. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Kitchen Conversation: Austin City Limits 2013
http://kitchenconvo.blogspot.com/2013/10/austin-city-limits-2013.html
Austin City Limits 2013. Once again, Jason and I were given free wristbands to ACL. This time free VIP. In addition to the daily chef tastings, Central Market catered lunch and dinner! Enough with the special treatment details and onto the music. Oh, the music! They were so much fun! Their music is a crazy amazing blend of garage rock, disco, dance, punk and metal, and they put on quite a funky performance. Thom Yorke and Flea make a great musical match. October 8, 2013 at 8:41 PM. I got nervous when I s...

Fashion has my heart. Food has my soul. Lucy’s Fried Chicken! July 19, 2012. You know, as a Southern girl from good’ole Texas, I have never had fried chicken! Aside from the occasional Popeyes, I haven’t had this southern staple until I discovered Lucy’s Fried Chicken. Lucy’s is located on 2218 College Avenue just off of South Congress Avenue and is open daily from 11-midnight. I ordered a basket of chicken and a side of smashed potatoes. The chicken was crispy and moist and juicy! Enter your comment here.

Insights, Tips and Errant Musings. Lean In is good advice, Ask For What You Want works too. Posted on December 19, 2013. Photo: justinablakeney.com, Like She Said #6. You can have it all manifesto, Lean In. It’s one of those books you can read in short spurts, put down and pick up again later. This is simply preamble to a recent revelation: Ask For What You Want. Stick with me, this will make sense. Not asking for what you want means you may not get what you set out to win, at least not in the long run&#...
