My last trip to Kuala Selangor back in late Feb was a very exciting one because I heard the call of a Mangrove Pitta, I have not been there until last Sunday and I was "defeated" by this elusive bird again. Here is the close up shot. The Oriental White Eyes are especially active. A Brown Shrike, probably his last month here in South East Asia Countries. Kuala Selangor Nature Park.

Although this species is fairly common in Russia, China and Japan, it is consider "rare" passage migrant to Peninsula Malaysia because the number birds sighted per any one site is less than 10. Friends and I made a trip to Sandakan for wildlife sighting; we signed up for 3days/2 nites package with Uncle Tan Wildlife Adventures. Which was rugged and comes with primitive amenities. Prepare to rough it out if you are thinking of visiting Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary any time soon or consider some other operators that provides better basic amenities.
