Gunda Stewart: April 2015
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Pots are piling up day by day, heading for an end of the month firing (or if the garden wins, maybe early/mid-May). It's nice to be semi-retired and not have the pressure to make pots at the expense of everything else. It's a gorgeous blue sky day, not too cold, which makes it very hard to be inside. Noodle bowls, jugs and tankards. Fat pots waiting for handles. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Support your local potter.

Gunda Stewart: May 2015
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Pots from the May Firing. The firing was fairly good - a bit too hot for some of the ash glazes so quite a few runs and plucks - but overall lots of decent pieces. Now it's back to the wheel and a bit of a push for the June firing. Ash glazed jug. Love how it carbon traps. My favourite jug from this firing. Red shino. Front of the kiln vase with heavy ash. Ash glaze part way down. Great colour on the red shino baby dishes. Red shino faceted bowl.

Gunda Stewart: July 2015

Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Thursday, July 30, 2015. Unless you've wood fired before it's hard to imagine the actual amount of work involved. I've had customers ask me how long it takes to make that mug. So where to start? With mixing the clay, or mixing glazes? How about the wood? Kiln shed is almost full. Outside pallets are crammed full. Waiting to be split and stacked. The biggest pieces are 12 - 14 inches across. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Ash glazed nesting bowls. Red Shino Nesting Bowls. Skeins o...

Gunda Stewart: Gearing Up
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2015/08/gearing-up.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Wednesday, August 5, 2015. I'm on a roll, gearing up for a firing as soon as it rains. I'm going to have the kiln loaded and ready to go as soon as we get several days of steady downpour. This abnormally long spell of dry, hot weather has got us all a bit nervous. 100's of fires in British Columbia and I don't want to be contributing to them. So pots are drying on their heads/faces and more are coming. Made teapots today that I'll assemble tomorrow. As if time stood still.

Gunda Stewart: May 2014
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Friday, May 30, 2014. Can't seem to get out of the garden. So much weeding and transplanting that I'm totally neglecting the pottery. Haven't made anything this week at all. But here are a few more photos taken yesterday of pots from the last firing. Now back to the wheel! Tea dust Temmoku bottles with salt flashes. Small Shino Teapot and cups. Red Shino Baker with excellent ash deposits. Red Shino nesting bowls. Ash glazed nesting bowls with texture. Sunday, May 11, 2014.

Gunda Stewart: July 2014
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Monday, July 14, 2014. The lilies are growing in with the kale and kohlrabi behind an 8 foot fence - the only place safe from the marauding gangs of deer. I think lilies are their favourites. Lilies from the garden. Yesterday was clear, sunny, and 33 degrees C. (91F). So of course we spent the entire day splitting wood! Now we just have to stack it all. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. I wanna play in the Diddely Band. Support your local potter.

Gunda Stewart: October 2014
http://gundastewart.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Postings from Orde Creek Pottery. Monday, October 27, 2014. Teadust Temmoku oil bottle with a big salt flash. Another teadust with salt flash. Refired shino with wild flame marks. Really, the matte ash glaze does look quite rock-like. Sort of. Tuesday, October 21, 2014. Best Ever Post-Firing Rest. We had a wonderful time walking and reading and fishing and playing Scrabble. Didn't think about the kiln once. It was so beautiful and soooo relaxing. Then we came home. Even the garbage was beautiful.
