Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Saturday, April 26, 2003. Posted by Dave at 4/26/2003. First week of classes has ended and I'm excited. Last night I went to a Beer Cantus, something I did back in January when I arrived. You sing 80s songs and drink a ton of beer inbetween songs. Theres rules too, so if you screw up you have to do something on stage. While I didn't get sick, it is sort of ridicolous how much and how quickly you drink beer. I finally found a...

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. So besides work, what are my final thoughts on my experiences in Qatar? I ate at Indian, Thai, Moroccan. Chinese, and American restaurants. I rode in vehicles as nice as Land Rovers and Jaguars to my lowly Nissan Craptima. I visited my Alma. Middle East campus and went to a violin and piano concert. There is a sense of entitlement that is anything greater than I've ever seen (that includes the SMU.

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Wednesday, May 08, 2002. On the 31st, we got our rooms moved in and settled, we then did a Wal mart run, except they don't have Wal-Marts, which was a surprise. They did have a Kmart in a town nearby. There are like 5 towns here and you never really know when you are leaving one and going to another. All you realize is that you are stuck in traffic forever. Posted by Dave at 5/08/2002. Requiem for a Thought. Putting to rest the thoughts of a cluttered mind. Monday, July 25, 2005. Kwodra-plee-jee-a): A condition of having partial or full paralysis of all four limbs. Mur-der-bal): Quadriplegics playing rugby. I watched the new documentary, Murderball. Yesterday with my brother. Honestly, going into it I didn’t really know what to expect. Was the doc going to focus on the sport? I wasn’t sure. As it turned out, it focused on both, but not in the way you might think. Here’s a quote that I ...

Requiem for a Thought. Putting to rest the thoughts of a cluttered mind. Monday, February 21, 2005. The Longest Post Yet. Plagues of the Mind: The New Epidemic of False Knowledge. This idea of self-destructive rationalism is misleadingly narrow at first. But it has slowly infected nearly every facet of our lives, ultimately aiding the present postmodernist intellectual chaos what is up is down; what is down is up. Here’s a wonderful description of postmodernism:. The Sound and the Fury. Etc etc. etc&...

Requiem for a Thought. Putting to rest the thoughts of a cluttered mind. Friday, April 22, 2005. My friend Doug is no longer working with me. He was laid-off recently. Though I know we’ll keep in touch, I’d like to spend a few moments and reflect on a relationship that was very unique for me. A: "Doug, that’s called a mullet."). He taught me some things about "black" culture. (e.g. dashikis). Today marks a week since he was let go. He was a good guy, and will be missed. Posted by Michael Ward @ 2:48 PM.

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Thursday, September 17, 2009. I made it back safely from Qatar. I immediately had Mexican food and some cold beers. Ahh. America. After the internship wrapped up, I joined my friend and toured America. We made the drive up north to Idaho in a rental Focus. America's landscapes truly are remarkable. Without a doubt my favorite stretch is I90 West from Billings and on to Coeur. Posted by Dave at 9/17/2009. QATAR COMMENTARY - W...

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Monday, July 13, 2009. QATAR COMMENTARY - WEEK 5. 1 If you ever get the chance to go dune bashing I highly recommend it. It's amazing what an SUV can do in the hands of a capable driver. While it felt like we were going to continually topple over, it never did happen. 3 The constant road construction here is crazy. The last few days I have had to find a different way back to the apartment each time. Upon arriving back in the...

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Friday, January 10, 2003. Well its the day after my ski trip and I've decided to go ahead and write down everything I can remember, because well it might be fun to read later on in life. The next day met up with the roomie for some skiing. Even became adventorous and started doing some double diamonds. It was good, but I didn't feel to hot. I went to bed like at 9 that night. Just kind of chilled by myself.
