Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Saturday, April 26, 2003. Posted by Dave at 4/26/2003. First week of classes has ended and I'm excited. Last night I went to a Beer Cantus, something I did back in January when I arrived. You sing 80s songs and drink a ton of beer inbetween songs. Theres rules too, so if you screw up you have to do something on stage. While I didn't get sick, it is sort of ridicolous how much and how quickly you drink beer. I finally found a...

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Wednesday, August 14, 2002. It is hard for me to imagine that today is my last day on the job here at EPB. In about a hour and a half I will be done and my NYC experience will be drawing to a close. Life confuses me like that. Posted by Dave at 8/14/2002. Tuesday, August 13, 2002. Nevermind(knowing he'd say make a deal). I give you good price. You can't get it for fifteen. Sir, wait, 17. No, I'm only willing to pay 15. For l...

Written on a Napkin. The travels I have taken and the experiences that resulted. Friday, February 28, 2003. Counting Crows version of Big Yellow Taxi is on. I love the Counting Crows. Nothing else is new. My project management group is worthless. I'm even tempted to drop it and take all my research with me. Then I'd be a jerk though. Still, they are the most incompetent group I've ever been involved with. Need to tie up some loose ends. Posted by Dave at 2/28/2003. Wednesday, February 26, 2003. Well I th...

Tools of procrastination part 2. Sunday, March 30, 2008. Documentaries are my favorite. A bit late, but i meant to plug a film that i saw at SXSW. it's called "they killed sister dorothy" and it is a-ma-zing. with extra zing. The website is theykilledsisterdorothy.com. Tools of procrastination part 2. Monday, April 28, 2008. Last week in class, one of my boys asked if he could go to the nurse to get some vaseline. To put on my tattoo. it itches." (yes, he is 13 and yes he has a new tattoo on his wrist. and yes it says "nina" and yes i asked why he had "little girl" written on his wrist. my spanish speakers all laughed.). I'm not kidding, that's exactly how the conversation went. in education we'd say that our schema didn't match up. Posted by martha at 6:14 PM.

http://marthaanne.blogspot.com/2004_09_01_archive.html

Tools of procrastination part 2. Sunday, September 26, 2004. My roommates and i learned an interesting lesson this weekend: very few people will take food from strangers, even when that food is birthday cupcakes. it's possible that they were more apprehensive than normal just because we were on northgate. that or we look really shady. afterall, people do tend to think that kevin is a pothead. Either way, it was incredibly entertaining watching kevin try to pawn cupcakes off on unsuspecting men. I don't d...

Excuse me...There's a Gringo in My Guatemala: July 4th

http://theresagringoinmyguatemala.blogspot.com/2009/07/july-4th.html

Excuse me.There's a Gringo in My Guatemala. Tuesday, July 7, 2009. So, how does an American celebrate 4th of July in a foreign country? A) Drive around the town square in a pickup blaring the Star-Spangled Banner? B) Walk around the town square wearing nothing but the flag and chanting "We're Number 1! C) Hiking with the enemy- a young woman from England. That's July 4th Guatemala style. July 7, 2009 at 9:21 PM. Mike, Lock it up. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Other Sites To Check Out.

Excuse me.There's a Gringo in My Guatemala. Thursday, May 14, 2009. NEWS: A lawyer and a president. As of today, it looks like the biggest news in the country is a scandal involving a murdered lawyer and Guatemala’s president. Tell me if this sounds like a movie:. On May 10, 2009, Rodrigo Rosenberg—a lawyer—was riding his bike in Guatemala City. “Unknown assailants” shot and killed him. On May 11, a video surfaced. Rosenberg made a tape before he died! President Alvaro Colom should be blamed. It's a fair...

http://theresagringoinmyguatemala.blogspot.com/2009/07/chicken-bus.html

Excuse me.There's a Gringo in My Guatemala. Sunday, July 5, 2009. So, why THIS chicken bus experience? At this small stop we picked up a preacher! He preached for probably 30 minutes (in Spanish, of course). This particular bus was about 70% full. I'm standing in front of the rear exit with one hand grasping the luggage rack and the other my camera. I hope the video gives a glimpse into the world of 2nd class transportation. http://marthaanne.blogspot.com/2008/02/hannibal.html

Tools of procrastination part 2. Tuesday, February 12, 2008. This situation baffles me for many reasons. 1 why is this child in public school? If he does not have any contact/socialization with peers and is basically on lockdown all day long, what benefit does he get from being in our school instead of some psychiatric facility? 2 don't the students and parents at our school have a right to know about any dangerous individuals in the building? We can't prepare for things we aren't aware of.

Excuse me.There's a Gringo in My Guatemala. Wednesday, May 27, 2009. The First (real) Post. So, this is my first (real) post from Guatemala. And you got some text and some videos. Until today I was in a house with 5 other students. But 3 have left for a different house as of this afternoon. Apparently, their school (which is a different school than the one I'm in) had to rearrange some things. I'll write more about my family here later. Monday, May 25, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
