Meadowsweet

Photos, Hand-mades, Antiques, Gardening and Other Things I Fancy. Monday, April 12, 2010. The Garden at Porcupine Hollow. Gardenwise there is one patch of spring flowers by the side of the laneway and that is it. Everything else is courtesy of Mother Nature. The challenge I suppose is to naturalize all the plantings with lots of native woodland plants and hopefully a few of my favourites that the deer won't find to their liking. Here they are.one patch. Meadowsweet: November 2009

http://meadowsweetprims.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Photos, Hand-mades, Antiques, Gardening and Other Things I Fancy. Sunday, November 15, 2009. The challenge this week is about capturing fins, fur and feathers. Pretty tough for those of us without aquariums and crystal clear fish ponds. I was going to haul a frozen salmon out of the freezer for my "fin" portion but came up with another idea last minute.so here we go. Chickadee enjoying the seed pie. A whole fish just for me? Heywait a minute.that's not a real fish. Sunday, November 8, 2009. In addition t...

Photos, Hand-mades, Antiques, Gardening and Other Things I Fancy. Thursday, December 31, 2009. Out With the Old and In With the New My Promises for Change. A new year approaches. Not unlike the last I think. One day fading into night and into day again. 4:45 alarm shrieks on the bedside table. 6:00 bleary eyed lock fumbling. Multi-task no time for lunch for this one woman complaint dept. 6:00 home at last and so it goes one day fading into night. A new year approaches. Different than the last. Even if my...

Meadowsweet: Lean on Me

http://meadowsweetprims.blogspot.com/2009/12/lean-on-me.html

Photos, Hand-mades, Antiques, Gardening and Other Things I Fancy. Saturday, December 12, 2009. It has been very quiet around here without Hunter. I haven't been feeling up to blogging or taking pictures since losing my sweet boy. Poor Willow is very clingy and confused.I don't know if dogs grieve but I'm sure that she is. Wee Remington tried his best to entice her into a game of tag around the kitchen table the other night.but to no avail. Told ya I should be a therapy dog! December 12, 2009 at 8:37 AM.

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 19, 2009. Here are a few new signs that I painted recently. The side door was covered with them.but I wasn't quick enough with the camera and a few have since left the building. Our candle collection has grown and now includes even more yummy. Hmmmgingerbread or hot apple pie.I just can't decide! Andthe nicest part.they are made right here in Ontario! We love to be able to support local/Canadian artisans whenever we can. Aka Mom for her keen eye and scoring some lovely Cranberry glass.

The Red Door: New Winter Creations

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2008/11/new-winter-creations.html

Sunday, November 23, 2008. This is the snowman we have affectionately named "The Red Door Snowman".he has been created with arms and without. with a snow shovel. And without one.done large and freestanding or a tiny painted version on an old skate. It doesn't seem to matter how we make him up he's just as popular as all get out. I will post a picture of the skate version a little later.for now I need to stoke the wood stove. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Please Step Back in Time. A View of Our Shop.

The Red Door: Original Step Back Cupboard

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2009/03/original-step-back-cupboard.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Original Step Back Cupboard. This is an original Upper Canada Step Back cupboard that we aquired at auction a couple of weeks ago. All it really needed was a good cleaning. So here she is sparkling like a new penny! There's nothing like 150-160 yrs to give pine a patina ya just can't get from a can! Are not a good combination! Luckily for us there is ONE place in the shop where we can display it.however it won't fit in the workshop at all so we will have to. Hi Terry and Jackie.

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2009/07/we-buy-junk-and-sell-antiques.html

Sunday, July 12, 2009. We Buy Junk and Sell Antiques. Did I mention that we were on a roll and couldn't be satisfied to bring home only one junker? Suffice to say that for today anyway we will begin with a thorough airing out and a good scrub and see if we feel inspired after that. Hopefully the weather will hold out this week (enough rain already! And we can get started on one of these. Stay tuned.I will post some close ups. I just LOVE the Bed Frame Jackie. Maybe you can just send it down this way!

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2008/11/sellers-kitchen-cupboard.html

Monday, November 24, 2008. I think this one has to be one of my favourite cupboards.but then again they all become my "favourite". Oh my gosh what I wouldn't give to be in your back yard! I love your site and I've only dipped my big toe into it! I finally found someone who has the "eye for primitives" that I do! I feel like a kid in a candy store right now and just had to write a quick note or I will go crazy! Okgotta go.gotta look some more! Melissa M. Northern Minnesota. February 11, 2009 at 5:36 PM.

The Red Door: Happy Endings

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2009/01/happy-endings.html

Thursday, January 1, 2009. So you can just imagine how thrilled we were earlier this week when the new owner of the Knetchel Kitchen Kupboard sent us this lovely picture of herself and her daughter. Thanks Carol! We nearly teared up some). We enjoy having the gramophone, (that functions like new), and it occupies a prominent place in our home, along with other complimentary antiques. Keep up the good work. I invite you to visit my site at: garyross.ca. Have a healthy and prosperous 2009. A View of Our Shop.

It is 100% original.I mean all original hardware, original flour sifter, tambour. Door fronts, everything! And best of all.it has never been tampered with.this is the original oak finish. The Red Door: Changing Seasons

http://reddoorprimitives.blogspot.com/2009/09/changing-seasons.html

Sunday, September 13, 2009. Can you believe it is nearly the middle of September? Terry and I have been busy in the workshop creating some new "Autumn/Halloween" prims and re-arranging the shop floor. With the approach of fall we just felt we needed to shake things up a bit and a change is as good as a rest as they say. It won't be long now and we will have to put a fire on in the shop. Cooler, shorter days are on the way and you will find us huddled up to the woodstove with the tea kettle on. A nice mix...
