Home sweet home | march on, my soul
https://meaganshantz.wordpress.com/2014/10/22/home-sweet-home
March on, my soul. Discovering my purpose in the world, one step at a time. That was the purpose for my time here, I realized that I need to refocus and not get caught up in my own world. It’s been great to volunteer at the HOPE school for children every week, and I look forward to meet the different fair trade member organizations in the coming weeks to interview local women whose lives have been changed by fair trade employment. Cafe Soma, a sweet place that reminds me of home :). October 22, 2014.

Ready set go! | march on, my soul
https://meaganshantz.wordpress.com/2014/09/05/ready-set-go
March on, my soul. Discovering my purpose in the world, one step at a time. It’s official. I just finished packing for 8 months! Who knew I could fit it all in 1 suitcase and a hiking backpack? I give credit to the rolling clothes technique for saving space which actually works! In other news, last night I watched The Hundred-Foot Journey with my parents and not only was it amazing and inspiring, but it also got me super excited for South Asian culture! I’M ACTUALLY GOING TO NEPAL! September 5, 2014.

March on, my soul. Discovering my purpose in the world, one step at a time. Life in Kathmandu: Arrival. Hello world, Meagan here live from Kathmandu! A lot has happened in the past 48 hours. First, my 6 classmates and I boarded the plane from Toronto to Hong Kong, a whopping 15 hours. Surprisingly, it went by fast and Cathay Pacific treated us well: salmon for dinner and Haagen Dazs for dessert! Everyone was so welcoming there and I got to practice my Mandarin a little bit hehe. Eating breakfast at a nea...

https://meaganshantz.wordpress.com/2014/07/12/stories
March on, my soul. Discovering my purpose in the world, one step at a time. Life is about stories. Stories have the potential to be powerful, persuasive and inspiring. They move people more than strict facts and figures can. I am a very relational person and love meeting new people and hearing their stories. What does this have to do with development or my placement in Nepal? Well…I just received my job mandate yesterday! Here are some of my principal responsibilities:. This honestly sounds perfect for m...

Tabaski | Making Waves
https://lexisalt.wordpress.com/2014/10/17/tabaski
My journey of disruptive change-making. October 17, 2014. I tried to take some pictures but it does not do the sheer volume of sheep justice. After Tabaski, there was very few sheep to be seen, given that they had all been slaughtered. Never-ending sea of sheep on my way home from work. The evening was my favourite part: everyone got dressed up in their special Tabaski clothes and I got to wear the dress that Marie gave me. Wolof clothing is absolutely gorgeous! My host family 🙂. My journey of disruptive change-making. September 17, 2014. Mon séjour au Sénégal (my stay in Senegal) so far has been defined by small victories. To be honest, I haven’t received any real work yet at my job at CNCR (Conseil National de Concertation et Cooperation des Ruraux). It is an agricultural organization, with the goal of building local capacity for rural farmers. A description of the work CNCR has done in 20 years. In order to stay positive, I am trying to focus on the small victories:. Traffic) ...

My journey of disruptive change-making. January 18, 2015. Some funny/cool things that have happened since I have been back:. I went to the market with Maman and impromptu decided to get henna done. It was my very first time doing this, so it was quite a joy. I was skyping with my friend Chelsea when I saw a mouse run across my room. She witnessed my shocked expression. I got my uncle to help me but we were not able to find it and it is still missing 😛. I’m Coming Home. Le temps passe vite! Enjoy every m...

My journey of disruptive change-making. I’m Coming Home. December 2, 2014. I wasn’t planning to, but I have decided to come home for Christmas (thanks to my parents for the early Christmas present of my flight home)! Work friends: Prospère, Jean and Tutti. Friends and family back home, 14 days and counting! I feel like a little kid who can’t wait for Christmas again…though let’s be real, I have always been that way 😛 But this year, I have even more to look forward to 🙂. Shifts in Perspective →. My journey of disruptive change-making. Adventures in Senegal with Friends. March 5, 2015. I took my sister and three of my cousins to visit La Statue de la Renaissance. It was pretty fun and there was a great view of the city! We toured around the first couple of levels; I might go back so I can go to the top and take some pictures of Dakar. The people who made these art pieces are incredibly talented. It was a great experience! Le temps passe vite! The Final Stretch: Endings and Beginnings →. Adventure...

March on, my soul. Discovering my purpose in the world, one step at a time. One thing I love about living in Kathmandu is that my appreciation has grown for the little things. Here is a list of a few of these simple joys that I am cherishing at the moment:. So the other day I was walking to the tempo after work and on my way stumbled upon the Vienna Bakery Cafe. I went inside and to my surprise, there was a whole shelf of homemade jams! 2 Finding the Tempo after work. The feeling of fresh air was like wa...
