MidCentury Modern Movies: Dollhouse
http://midcenturymodernmovies.blogspot.com/2009/04/dollhouse.html
Wednesday, April 15, 2009. Spotted. Click on the big Play. Icon in the middle of the Hulu window above to view a quick clip of the Dollhouse. OK, Dollhouse isn't a movie, but it's a fabulous way to start this quest into finding examples of MidCentury Modern furniture on screen. It's the small screen instead of the big screen, but it'll do. Or in this case it's the smaller screen instead of the small screen 'cause it's a clip in a viewer on a computer screen and not an actual TV screen.
MidCentury Modern Movies: July 2009
http://midcenturymodernmovies.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 6, 2009. Per a suggestion from a reader, here's Speed Racer. While the interiors in this film do have furniture pieces (in wild colors), I decided to concentrate on a little drive down the street from near the beginning of the film, where every house is a looker. The houses are slightly unfocused ('cause the action is supposed to be on the car and its riders), but you get the idea. Slant roofs and clerestories oh my. Saturday, July 4, 2009. The living room in Revolutionary Road.
MidCentury Modern Movies: Ferris Bueller's Day Off
http://midcenturymodernmovies.blogspot.com/2009/05/ferris-buellers-day-off.html
Friday, May 15, 2009. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Sometimes I watch a random movie just to have something playing in the background to distract me while I'm plopped down in front of the computer screen. This process is facilitated by the fact that all of our DVDs are housed within a 4TB array that's tucked into my George Nelson style slat closet. Touch of a button movies- it's the only way to fly. Yesterday's pick was Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Why that one? These two snapshots made me laugh. In the second ...

MidCentury Modern Movies: A Star Is Born
http://midcenturymodernmovies.blogspot.com/2009/05/star-is-born.html
Friday, May 1, 2009. A Star Is Born. The 1954 adaptation of the 1937 film A Star Is Born. Is exactly the kind of film that my wife and I were looking for in an attempt to find photographic or celluloid evidence of period furniture pieces residing in their natural habitats. After all, when one uses the phrase MidCentury. You can't get any closer to the middle of the century than 1954. She's got four, count 'em four. That studio sofa (if that's what you call it) would be a perfect addition to our library&#...

I Want My Jeopardy!: Clinton's Cabinet
http://iwantmyjeopardy.blogspot.com/2009/07/clintons-cabinet.html
I Want My Jeopardy! Jeopardy prep. One blurb at a time. Saturday, July 4, 2009. As a follow up to the previous post, here's a list of Clinton's cabinet. There are multiple names in most departments 'cause of the changing of the guard through the course of the administration. Note that in my historical trek backwards through presidential cabinets that I'm conveniently skipping over George Bush the younger. 'Cause frankly, I don't care who was in his cabinet. Vice President: Al Gore, Jr.
I Want My Jeopardy!: The NATO Phonetic Alphabet

I Want My Jeopardy!: June 2009
http://iwantmyjeopardy.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
I Want My Jeopardy! Jeopardy prep. One blurb at a time. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. One topic I know I'm weak on is guys' and gals' names who serve politically, whether it be governors, mayors, congressfolks, or cabinet members. This is not just a problem with those currently in office, but it's most definitely a problem historically. So I might as well start in the here and now. Vice President: Joseph R. Biden. State: Hillary Rodham Clinton. Treasury: Timothy F. Geithner. Defense: Robert M. Gates. Here are ...

I Want My Jeopardy!: The Process
http://iwantmyjeopardy.blogspot.com/2009/05/process.html
I Want My Jeopardy! Jeopardy prep. One blurb at a time. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Step 1: Took the online test in January. Felt pretty good about myself. Probably got 46-47 out of 50 correct. Step 3. I Want My Jeopardy!: The Impressionists
http://iwantmyjeopardy.blogspot.com/2009/06/impressionists.html
I Want My Jeopardy! Jeopardy prep. One blurb at a time. Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Rouen is one of my favorite French cities. Monet's series of Rouen Cathedral paintings are some of my favorite impressionist works. The standard guess when anything comes up about impressionists and I have no idea is, Who is Monet? Some of The Impressionists and a well known work by each:. Gustave Caillebotte (Paris Street, Rainy Day). Mary Cassatt (The Boating Party). Paul Cezanne (The Cardplayers). Or anything with lilies).

mid-century MODERN LOVE
I don’t know if we’ve ever shared one of the things about this house (or property) which disturbs us the most. I think we have simply pretended it doesn’t exist. You know, one of those things that you just look the other way because taking it on will be so massive and such a headache and you have fantasies about wiggling your nose and it’s all taken care of? We really want to take on such a back-breaking project? Inspired by a few photos I found on this website Eichler for Sale. The vision began to come ...

Sunday, February 8, 2015. Mid-century modern drought tolerant landscaping. Posted in: landscape remodel. When we re-did our bathrooms three years ago, we re-landscaped a tiny strip of yard. On the back fence so the bathrooms would have a view. It was beyond silly and humiliating to me that the rest of the yard looked like this. Posted by Rebecca Gonzalez. Tuesday, September 9, 2014.
