Yesterday we went to our apartment and met up with Don, the owner of the building and his massive truck. He drove us out to the west side of El. Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Visiting the clinic for the first time. Jessica and I are now back at our little home lounging around after a fantastic lunch of fresh tortilla’s, cheap and amazing avocados and really really hot salsa which we ate over fr...

Wednesday, February 6, 2008. Spanish lessons on a volcanic lake. I´ve been in San Pedro for the last week, a beautiful town on a volcanic lake in Guatemala where Kate and I spent new years. The first few days were tough, I found myself getting way more attention from men, especially older men then I wanted and was wondering how great being a single female traveler was! Things have improved however. Here´s a little update for you all as I have been spending my time.-. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

An Expat Family and Their Adventures: How do you get Water out of a 5 Gallon Jug?
http://sagaunscripted.blogspot.com/2015/02/how-do-you-get-water-out-of-5-gallon-jug.html
An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Friday, February 27, 2015. How do you get Water out of a 5 Gallon Jug? When we moved to Abu Dhabi we knew we didn't want it to be a permanent position, so we didn't buy expensive things for the house as we knew we'd have to leave most of it behind. Sometimes this can backfire, but for us it has been a good strategy. The second pump took two size D batteries. frequently!

Dar La Luz: November 2008
http://mayaluna.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 9, 2008. Some days I step outside and look up and around me. Hear church bells in the background, laugh at the kittens outside or breath in the air and marvel how the sunlight reflects on objects around me and I remember. Tears to ecstasy, tears to ecstasy. Dar La Luz: January 2008
http://mayaluna.blogspot.com/2008_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Thursday, January 24, 2008. Anna, Sara and I have been in Roatan since Monday afternoon staying with Miss Peggy, an RN that started a clinic here in 2001. She has a team of doctors visiting from the states and does an amazing job of organizing and running the clinic. Her clinic is in much better shape then the hospital where we visited the first day and which doesn't even have running water! Saturday, January 19, 2008. Visiting a missionary project. And she said yes! After vi...

An Expat Family and Their Adventures: Sickness in the States
http://sagaunscripted.blogspot.com/2015/05/sickness-in-states.html
An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thursday, May 28, 2015. Sickness in the States. Talia then came down with fever and cough and flu-like symptoms, that when recovered, Elias caught. In the middle of that I had a horrible stomach virus that kept me in bed and my dad, who wasn't feeling good either, saved me so much trouble by watching the kids so I could puke in peace. Since people in the desert have seemed...

An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Ezra playing with a birthday gift. This baby is such a sweet heart! So far he can wave and say hi or bye-bye, Pawpaw, bubba, Ta-ta (for Talia) and love you (luh-ooo). Many of his family members hadn't met him before coming to his first birthday party, and it was really special to get to spend time with them. Happy first birthday, Ezra! Pan dulce , ...

An Expat Family and Their Adventures: Toddlers on Tile Floors
http://sagaunscripted.blogspot.com/2015/06/toddlers-on-tile-floors.html
An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Toddlers on Tile Floors. In Abu Dhabi all of the floors I ever saw were made of tile, perhaps to withstand inevitable sand and to be cooler. I appreciated them until Elias and then Ezra had to try to learn to walk on them- then the frequent falls in the beginning of their endeavors had me worried about their skulls and such! Lychee, Zapote, Guisquil...

An Expat Family and Their Adventures: Desert Storms
http://sagaunscripted.blogspot.com/2015/04/desert-storms.html
An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Thursday, April 2, 2015. Shoes with the decoration peeled off, shrunk to half their normal size and curled up. I was surprised (to find them in there, first) to see how different they were when they came out! The kids and I are glad Ben is home, whatever the reason! They were playing "sandstorm travelers" and created this mask to "help them breathe in storms":. Pan dulce ,...

An Expat Family and Their Adventures: Blending and Harvests
http://sagaunscripted.blogspot.com/2015/07/blending-and-harvests.html
An Expat Family and Their Adventures. Chapter 1: Guatemala; Chapter 2: Abu Dhabi; Chapter 3: Mexico; Chapter 4: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. I love harvest time! Our neighbors are getting older and don't like to mess with putting away fruit from their trees anymore so sometimes we get to pick their fig and peach trees. Here we got two five gallon buckets full of peaches that were falling off of the tree. Now they need to be processed/set out to finish ripening. Pan dulce , (translated ...
