The Ministry of Incompetence: Stream of Consciousness Writing 1
http://ministryofincompetence.blogspot.com/2008/07/stream-of-conscious-writing-1.html
The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Monday, July 14, 2008. Stream of Consciousness Writing 1. Drifting, seamless star. From where you are; from where you sleep. What are those tangerine dreams that you speak of? Spoke, but no longer speak. Lifting from the ether and rising from the surface, then descend to rend all their due. Karmic consequence, that is. No grace; grace is gone. Sun no longer shines; peace no longer reigns; a new age begins. Once stranded, o...
The Ministry of Incompetence: Catholicism on Merit
http://ministryofincompetence.blogspot.com/2008/08/catholicism-on-merit.html
The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Thursday, August 07, 2008. From paragraph 2011 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church:. The charity of Christ is the source in us of all our merits before God. Grace, by uniting us to Christ in active love, ensures the supernatural quality of our acts and consequently their merit before God and before men. The saints have always had a lively awareness that their merits were pure grace. Thursday, August 07, 2008.

The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Monday, July 21, 2008. 10 Insights from World Youth Day. 1) While I'm still well and truly on the journey, I'm not quite ready to convert to Catholicism just yet. There is still much prayer and reflection to do before I will decide definitively. 4) The Catholics I know have self-aware and reflective faiths. They think carefully about what they believe and take their faith seriously. 7) Most Catholics I know appreciate that...

The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Friday, February 29, 2008. The Most Dejected Convert in All of England". Wouldn't this suggest that Christians decide to convert from the motivation of pure expedience? The answer to my accusation to startling - what's your point? Friday, February 29, 2008. Thursday, February 28, 2008. A woman has been awarded $10,000 damages and a public apology for being denied membership of a boat club because she was a woman. Remember ...

The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Thursday, January 31, 2008. The Truth of the Matter. In just over two weeks, my name will officially be entered into the roll of New South Wales legal practitioners. One may either look at this moment as the culmination of seven years of study and work experience or as the start of everything that it yet to come. I am feeling many things at the moment, ranging from excitement, to pride, to nostalgia, to sheer relief. I don...

Tales from SE23: Be seeing you...40 years later
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2006/05/be-seeing-you40-years-later.html
Be seeing you.40 years later. One of my all-time favourite TV shows,. Is to be remade for Sky. The latest rumours are that none other than Christopher Eccleston will play No.6 this time around.if they do it right, I'm convinced this will be the best thing on TV. The 1990's wasn't a good decade for quality UK TV drama - only a fews dramas such as. Our Friends in the North. As Sara reminded me! The 1960's version of. Was filmed in Portmeirion. London Mayor Elections - the candidates show their true colours. This was on Have I Got News For You last week - hilarious! Posted by Dave and Sara. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Forest Hill, London, United Kingdom. We live in London. Dave spends far too much time worrying about Tranmere's promotion prospects (they don't have any). Sara worries Harry Potter will be killed off in the last book! View my complete profile. This is a Flickr badge showing public photos from dave and sara. Make your own badge here.

Tales from SE23: The View from the Hill
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2008/11/view-from-hill.html
The View from the Hill. There really is a hill in Forest Hill. Here's a piccie I took today of the view of north London. The white semi-circle on the horizon is the Wembley Stadium Arch - 12 miles away! And this is the Crystal Palace transmitter which is about 2 miles away. It was very sunny after a long period of rain - the wet tarmac almost make the spicture seem black and white. By contrast, here is the transmitter mast as seen from our local park, Mayow Park (on a nice sunny day!

Tales from SE23: University Challenge
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2006/10/university-challenge.html
Wow, it's been a really busy September! We'll try and post all the news over the next few days. To kick off, Dave is a student again. He's started a 2-year part-time course for a Masters degree (MSc) in Human Resources at South Bank University. So far, after three weeks, things are going well although it is strange to be back on a campus again and makes you feel old! Juggling the studying with Dave's full-time job is going to be the biggest challenge. Posted by Dave and Sara. View my complete profile.
Tales from SE23: Walking in Joyden's Woods
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2008/11/walking-in-joydens-woods.html
Walking in Joyden's Woods. We took Owen for a walk in Joyden's Woods, Kent in his backpack. The wood is officially ancient woodland and is at least 400 years old. We started off with Owen wide awake:. But by the end the walk had obviously been too exhausting for him! Posted by Dave and Sara. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tales from SE23: Patrick McGoohan
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2009/01/patrick-mcgoohan.html
Back in 2006 I blogged. About the 60s TV show The Prisoner and how much I have always loved it. It's one of THE greatest shows ever. So I was very saddened to hear that Patrick McGoohan, The Prisoner's creator and star, died this week. Like the Prisoner himself Patrick was a true individual who passionately believed in the right of the individual to refuse to conform to what passes for 'normal' and I suppose that made him a bit of an inspiration to me. RIP Patrick, be seeing you. Posted by Dave and Sara.
Tales from SE23: Make an appointment to see The Doctor
http://talesfromse5.blogspot.com/2008/11/make-appointment-to-see-doctor.html
Make an appointment to see The Doctor. If you have any interest in Doctor Who then you really should visit the Dr Who exhibition at Earl's Court. They have a fanstastic collection of props, costumes and monsters from the new series. We went along with Gareth and Jo and their two sons befopre they - sadly - emigrate to Oz! So, this is of course the Tardis:. Owen met the Face of Boe:. And Dave had a close encounter with a Weeping Angel! And we said a quick hello to the Dalek creator himself, Davros:.

The Ministry of Incompetence
The Ministry of Incompetence. Reflections of a Christian at Odds With Christendom. Monday, May 11, 2009. What Does it Mean to Love Jesus? Many Christians instinctively take offence at the idea that they practice a religion. Quite often, they'll be quick be point out that they're about relationship, not religion. It's a strange assertion, given that St James says that there is nothing inherently wrong about being religious:. Does one love someone, or does one love something about someone? The difference b...
