Gluten free cooking on a grad student's budget. Feb 23, 2010. Broiled Salmon with Mango Salsa and Quinoa. This is a really easy one, and full of color and fresh flavor. Something definitely lacking in these remaining winter days! Treat yourself to wild caught salmon and a huge helping of the salsa; with no oil or salt, this is a super healthy meal. Some may wonder, "What is quinoa. And why should I eat it? Is a whole grain with NO GLUTEN. As you know, we glutinos. I was inspired to try quinoa. 3 Combine ...

Homeward Bound: Pobrecita Tomatilla
http://homewardboundmi.blogspot.com/2009/08/pobrecita-tomatilla.html
Gluten free cooking on a grad student's budget. Aug 27, 2009. That translates to "poor little tomatoes," and they are my subject today. So back in February or so, I decided to start my own tomatoes (both cherry and an heirloom variety) from seed, in a little mini greenhouse I bought from Wal. Mart of all places. Tiny future plants were placed in moist peat patches, covered with a plastic lid and lived happily on the third shelf of the baker's rack for some time. But it paid off; when I moved to Wisconsin...

Homeward Bound: The Easiest Cheesecake Ever!
http://homewardboundmi.blogspot.com/2009/09/easiest-cheesecake-ever.html
Gluten free cooking on a grad student's budget. Sep 7, 2009. The Easiest Cheesecake Ever! I've made two in two weeks and they've both been devoured. I'd say that counts as a recipe success, wouldn't you? The crust is so simple and gives a spicy change to the usual graham cracker taste. I say, why use graham when you can use ginger snaps? And use those instead. Be creative! 4 oz ginger snap cookies. 2 tbsp butter (not margarine). 2 8 oz. packages of cream cheese (can be low fat). 1/2 cup brown sugar.

Gluten Free with a Purpose. 124; Comments RSS. Today’s word is PROACTIVE. Posted on August 28, 2008. This week I put 100% faith in my dentist. It probably wasn’t the right decision but I learned a lesson. If you didn’t already know, the g-word(aka GLUTEN), can be found in dental products; toothpaste, flouride, etc. I confirmed this AFTER my dental appointment. The thought that this may be true came to my head as I lay on the dental chair, ready for my cleaning. Hmmm. Lesson learned : I must be PROACTIVE.

Gluten Free 4 Goofs. March 4, 2009 at 2:39 pm. Boy is it hard to make meat loaf look sexy and I apologize in. Advance if you are on a vegan diet. Avert your eyes! Get out, get out! Okay – for those of you who can and will eat meat, this is a quick and hearty meal. Thanks Callie (little sis) for bringing it to my attention, she gets the credit for the major part of this recipe. And no, that isn’t plain ol’ cold ketchup! By the way, be sure your ketchup IS gluten free, not all of them are. Evaporated milk,...

Gluten Free with a Purpose. 124; Comments RSS. TWD: Sugar Cookies Gone Wrong. Posted on December 9, 2008. This week’s pick was from Ulrike @ Kuchenlatein. Grandma’s All Occasion Sugar Cookies. These really were supposed to be stars and hearts. I promise. Bakers aren’t perfect, but I don’t think Grandma would be too proud. A celiac baker can only guess. A celiac baker will try again. This recipe taught me two valuable lessons:. 1) gluten is an amazing thing; something we shouldn’t take for granted. Follow...
