http://lasaventurasdetyler.blogspot.com/2012/10/europe-part-i.html
Las aventuras diarias de Tyler Jordan Donahue. Les aventures diàries de Tyler. Sunday, October 21, 2012. Luckily I was at my folks' house as were my brother and grandfather, so I got to spend a lot of good time with my family before I headed out.) Before I knew it, it was time to head to DFW Airport. The folks and I crawled in the car, and my looooong trip to Spain had started. Outside of the airport. Me upstairs at BK in Amsterdam. So headed back to the train station I felt like passing out. With mo...

Madridiculoso: The Early Bird Gets The Visa
http://madridiculoso.blogspot.com/2012/06/early-bird-gets-visa.html
Thursday, June 21, 2012. The Early Bird Gets The Visa. Parked my car across the street from the consulate thirty minutes before my scheduled appointment. We were then handed a sheet and told to organize our paperwork in the order listed. A very chic looking woman opens the door and calls my name. I follow her up the stairs to her office for the interview. Process complete. Headed down to the payment window where a very handsome Spanish man was waiting to collect the fees for the visa. He said som...Entre...

Las aventuras diarias de Tyler Jordan Donahue: August 2012
http://lasaventurasdetyler.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Las aventuras diarias de Tyler Jordan Donahue. Les aventures diàries de Tyler. Friday, August 31, 2012. Places to visit before I leave. Let's start with food. 1) El Matador - Denton: Having my going away party here. Nice cheap Tex-Mex and a chilled out atmosphere. 2) Babe's - Granbury: I doubt Spain has any good fried chicken so I'll have to get it out of my system. 3) Chipotle - Denton: We have a new Chipotle right across from campus on the grave of the old Tomato. Will have to try it out before I go.

I'm not very good with titles. Sunday, March 31, 2013. Everyone break out your bikini and sunscreen because it's SPRIIIIIING BREEEEAAAAK. Wait, I forgot that this isn't Southern California and it's been raining all month. Also, I don't even own a bikini. Of course, the airlines know that, and its also one of the more expensive times to explore the corners of Europe. Tuesday, 26 March. We left on Tuesday morning, arriving an hour and a half early for our train ride. The beauty of trains is that you on...

I'm not very good with titles. Wednesday, October 24, 2012. OK, so a month has passed without updates. Here's an quick list on what's happened since:. Plane ride went well. I had a personal television screen on both flights, and I watched the Avengers. Everything arrived on schedule and without complaints. I spent the first week or so with Álvaro's family in Leganés. While it was infinitely better than a hostal, I definitely started to get cabin fever, and wanted to settle in to my new apartment. It's be...

I'm not very good with titles. Saturday, August 31, 2013. Been to Germany quite a few times in my life. When I studied abroad in Madrid in the spring of 2011, I highly considered a weekend getaway to Berlin. However, flights were too expensive so I chose the cheaper alternative- Amsterdam- for my northern European fix. Then, this past winter, I learned about German Christmas markets. I thought, "Well that should be a lovely way to spend Christmas break, since I won't be going home.". You can imagine my s...

I'm not very good with titles. Monday, December 10, 2012. Ah, the Spanish puente- a long weekend. We've had quite a few puentes this year, although the majority have fallen on a Friday, when I conveniently don't work (a "first world problem": Woe is me, I can't take the day off because I already have. That day off). The remaining long weekends I've spent either sick in bed or furniture shopping. Fun. Wait, what do you mean "his pueblo"? Time for a Spanish culture lesson. We went to Álvaro's pueblo. In Ga...

I'm not very good with titles. Thursday, September 19, 2013. Almost one year after I said goodbye to the United States, I boarded a 13 hour plane bound for the Los Angeles International Airport. On tiny screens in the middle of the aisles, the Iberia flight showed The Great Gatsby. While I like the book, I'm not a particular fan of the movie—too much flash and not enough substance—but nevertheless the film's final words (taken verbatim from the novel) echoed in my head. Time I missed living down the stre...

I'm not very good with titles. Thursday, June 27, 2013. No more pencils, no more books. It's my last day of school, and now seems as good a time as any to reflect on my first year as an auxiliar de conversación. First, what the heck does it mean to be an auxiliar. Or "language assistant", if you prefer my english title)? According to Spain's Ministry of Education:. The North American Language and Culture Assistants Program is an academic continuing education grant. The basic duties of the assistant are:.

I'm not very good with titles. Monday, April 29, 2013. What gets left behind. I have a lot of words my head that when, sitting in front of this computer screen, seem to stall at my fingertips. I'm not sure what to say but I feel like something needs to be said, if only to give some form to my thoughts. Maybe I can stop the buzzing in my skull. I've kept this blog fairly personal, but at this moment I feel some distance is necessary. Tend to glamourize living abroad. Look at our exciting expat lives!
