Gardening in the East Mountains. PO Box 2458, Tijeras NM 87059. Mountain Gardens- finding success with plants for the high desert and East Mountains of New Mexico. Wednesday, January 2, 2013. A Pot for Vertical Gardening. Happy New Year, everyone! In cisterns, basins and swales, rain gardens. Seed saving is a growing trend, easy and rewarding, and I hope more gardeners will join organizations like Seed Savers and buy from Seeds of Change. Bel embellishes a hanging pot. Again, there's a lot of interest in...

Gardening in the East Mountains. PO Box 2458, Tijeras NM 87059. Mountain Gardens- finding success with plants for the high desert and East Mountains of New Mexico. Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Bit more than a teaspoon a day! Gilly tried it in her coffee, and liked it very much, thank you. The syrup is recommended as a topping for oatmeal, a sweetener for tea- use your imagination. Rose hips are high in vitamin C, everyone. Carotenoids, betasitosterol (! Links to this post. Friday, September 5, 2014.

He'd hoped to get more, but decided to take only three frames after checking the state of things. We'd had visions of spending the whole afternoon processing honey, but- well, we did. Spend the whole afternoon, but not because there was so much. We're stumped about why the honey was so thick- but the taste was a del...

New Mexico Fruit Explorers: NMFX October Meeting
http://nmfruit.blogspot.com/2014/10/nmfx-october-meeting.html
New Mexico Fruit Explorers. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Members met at my (Jo's) place for the October meeting. We had a nice lunch, and then a brief presentation on starting some of the more difficult seeds. Mountain Gardens blog will have an article on that topic in the next little while. Then we looked at what was left of the veggie garden, between the freezes and gophers, not much. We haven't decided on a venue for the November meeting- any volunteers? New Mexico Fruit Explorers: Grafting Workshop--2015
http://nmfruit.blogspot.com/2015/04/grafting-workshop-2015.html
New Mexico Fruit Explorers. Thursday, April 16, 2015. This year's grafting workshop was hosted at the Extension office in Albuquerque with hort agent (and new club member) Graeme Davis, pictured with Dwight Luna. The group was smaller this year, so we got to try a couple of new techniques beside the splice or whip graft. The second shows a successful whip from the previous year's workshop. It's just beginning to leaf out at my altitude. One fun thing- we used the chip bud graft to make espaliers! I put a...

Members should bring their own band-aids! We decided to do bench grafts because it should be easier in the face of our unpredictable weather (snowing today!

My Mountain Garden Gleanings
My Mountain Garden Gleanings. Thursday, December 18, 2014. Well hello again (and finally). The end of a very busy year is winding down. So much has happened in a short twelve months.
