My Travels With Black Betty

"Will the future understand ... how much of our lives was spent in automobiles, and how largely their little curved caves of painted metal ... were part of our coming of age, our mating, our fulfillment of obligations, our thrusts of dreaming? An average American male became a man at the age of sixteen, with his possession of a driver's license, and every seventeen years thereafter he drove the distance to the moon." - John Updike

I thought they said rum: Running in Ocean City, NJ

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/08/running-in-ocean-city-nj.html

Sunday, August 2, 2015. Running in Ocean City, NJ. I pity those that don't live near the ocean. Then again, there are those who might pity me for living in New Jersey, so we'll just call it even. But seriously, I love running on the boardwalk and along the ocean and look forward to it every summer in spite of the accompanying heat and humidity. And absolutely nothing beats jumping in the ocean after a long, hot run. Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. August 4, 2015 at 10:16 AM. August 4, 2015 at 10:16 AM.

I thought they said rum: 1,200 miles

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/07/1200-miles.html

Thursday, July 23, 2015. July has been a slow month for running, but this morning I went out for 8 miles. It was my longest run in weeks, and I was forced to welcome back nipple chafing into my life. After completing 8 miles, I walked into the kitchen and saw my wife in workout clothes. Oh good, I just caught you! Want to go run 3 miles? You had me at hello. Only 815 miles to go in this challenge! Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. July 24, 2015 at 1:23 PM. Youre almost at your goal! A whole lot of soles.

I thought they said rum: 2015 Miami Marathon Kick-Off 5k

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/08/2015-miami-marathon-kick-off-5k.html

Saturday, August 8, 2015. 2015 Miami Marathon Kick-Off 5k. I'm down in Florida for the umpteenth time of my life visiting the in-laws, and Stevie decided to continue her 5k kick by signing us up for another one this morning. The Miami Marathon is held every January, and every August they hold a 5k to kick off training season. Because nothing is better in life than training for a marathon in Florida in August. Stevie's high school friend and her husband were also there:. We started out at an 8 minute pace...

I thought they said rum: Videos

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/p/videos.html

Here are some of my favorite running-related videos:. 1 This is a video diary I made of my experience qualifying for Boston in the 2010 Philadelphia Marathon. One of the greatest moments of my life! 2 Some deeply personal reasons to run, set to a slow, haunting track by Moby. 3 With one lap to go, a runner falls and is nearly trampled by her competitors. When most would throw in the towel, watch what she does:. 5 More funny than inspiring, but definitely worth a watch. The Finish Line 2 - Short Feature.

I thought they said rum: Movie Monday: Deliverance meets running

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/06/movie-monday-deliverance-meets-running.html

Monday, June 15, 2015. Movie Monday: Deliverance meets running. A group of locals from Leiper's Fork, Tennessee decided to camp out on the side of the Franklin Half Marathon race course and good naturedly heckle the runners. Taking their cue from Deliverance, they parked themselves by a rusty old pickup, wore overalls and played dueling banjos while calling out to passing runners. What are yew runnin' from, boy? http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/06/june-mileage.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. 1123 miles this month. 1,101.6 miles for the year. This means I'm still on track to complete 2,015 miles this year, but just barely. Keeping up my motivation for this challenge is going to be tough. Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. Janelle @ Run With No Regrets. July 22, 2015 at 2:51 PM. Lots of running this year, great job! I run 4 days a week when Im training, which is the most Ive done consistently. Its great to see all those miles add up! August 14, 2015 at 8:06 AM.

I thought they said rum: Here comes summer

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/06/here-comes-summer.html

Friday, June 19, 2015. Stevie and I have made it a tradition to drink champagne on the last day of school to celebrate another successful year, so we sat outside in the backyard this afternoon while I reflected on the past nine months of my professional life. These, alas, are thoughts and concerns I will happily relegate to August, because summer is finally here, and Stevie and Neale are all that matter. Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. I thought they said rum: South Jersey beer night

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/07/south-jersey-beer-night.html

Wednesday, July 1, 2015. South Jersey beer night. Whenever it's my turn to be up for our Wednesday night beer/run club, I like to bring beer according to a theme. My first time up I brought all German beers because I'm a German teacher. Another time, in December, I brought all Christmas beers. And tonight I decided to go local and highlight as many South Jersey beers as I could. Then I printed up a menu to accompany the cooler. Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. I thought they said rum: My first Father's Day

http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2015/06/my-first-fathers-day.html

Sunday, June 21, 2015. My first Father's Day. Three generations of Partenheimers. Father's Day was today, and it was a special one for me because it was my first as a father. Stevie made me waffles for breakfast, I took myself to the movies to see Jurassic World, and then we all headed to my dad's place to grill in the backyard. Grilling, beer, and family - is there any better way to celebrate Father's Day? Scott @ I Thought They Said Rum. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A whole lot of soles. 1/2 Mar...

I make my living taking photographs for others. My life has been a series of “many lives”, National Park Ranger, gym owner. 1980’s Beefcake and now a professional photographer. I have always been lucky enough to make a living doing something that I love, but there is a price to pay for this. Turn your love into a job, and the money waxes as the passion wanes. I found this to be true, first with bodybuilding and now with photography. As I start to try to work less and live more, I hope to start to shoot f...

My Travels with Depression | A journey through therapy

My Travels with Depression. A journey through therapy. No Contact with the Narcissist But, she’s your mother. We were born into a culture of idolising our mothers. People expect us to sit them. Gracefully on a pedestal, regardless of what they did, or who they became. When a mother and child’s relationship breaks down, there seems to be a predisposition to place the blame on the offspring. Awe, poor man surely he must feel loss’. Many of them say, But, she’s your mother. She shrugged, she’s your mother.

My Travels with Kiki & Binky

My Travels with Kiki and Binky. Day 6 – Paris, France. October 29, 2013 by mytravelswithkikiandbinky. Our last day…. After a return trip to the neighbourhood market at Raspail, we returned ‘home’ for the last time… A few souvenirs, some wonderful memories: the food, the architecture, the history, the smells, and some not so great memories: getting lost daily, le Metro, the smells and bathrooms in general (ugh)… I think Kiki might start travelling with a toilet seat. Trust me, he is/was not a happy wet ca...
