Does your social media need an audit? | Gwen Pearson

https://naturegeek.me/2016/10/23/does-your-social-media-need-an-audit

Entomologist. Educator. Writer. Nerd. Does your social media need an audit? October 23, 2016. October 23, 2016. I was asked to do a workshop on social media for the IECC’s 2016 Conference. And thought I would write up what I did for everyone to use. Running social media accounts takes a substantial investment of time and energy for staff. Before you get started: What do you want to accomplish? Your followers and likes are increasing over time. Great! But: Lots of followers isn’t meaningful. Feel free to ...

Entomologist. Educator. Writer. Nerd. This is why I don’t use Flash. February 17, 2014. February 18, 2014. This is a screenshot of a non-profit foundation’s website. This site uses Flash extensively. What is the name of the website? What is the name of this non-profit? You can’t tell. Because it’s in an animation that you can’t see. This is why I don’t use Adobe Flash. On any websites I build. Site that is cross-platform compatible. Your websites need to be accessible for those with disabilities. Knockin...

Portfolio | Gwen Pearson

https://naturegeek.me/portfolio

Entomologist. Educator. Writer. Nerd. I’ve been creatively marketing educational programs for over a decade, graduating from zines and paper flyers to websites and social media. The slideshow below contains examples of web design and project management (WordPress and Joomla), content production, and print flyers dating from 2007-2014. Keep in mind that once my work is done, web sites may be altered significantly as the needs of the organization changes, and as web technology improves.

Should you be on Facebook? | Gwen Pearson

https://naturegeek.me/2014/02/23/should-you-be-on-facebook

Entomologist. Educator. Writer. Nerd. Should you be on Facebook? February 23, 2014. April 8, 2014. This is a question I get a lot from scientists — there is a pretty widespread perception that Facebook isn’t serious, or that it’s a lot of work for little payoff. The best way I know to answer is to point people at an amazing resource: The Pew Internet Study. Other interesting bits of information you can glean from the Pew studies are demographics of different platforms. Here’s an example:. You have a limi...
