WPC: Layers – Nature on the Edge

https://natureontheedge.com/2013/11/16/2703

Nature on the Edge. Wildlife photography along the urban edge. November 16, 2013. November 16, 2013. Nature on the Edge. Peel back the outer, protective layers of a protea flower and be amazed at the powerhouse of internal workings for seed production. The outer layers are tough and leathery to withstand the fierce, drying winds and the flower head must also contend with dehydration from the baking sun. Well wrapped and protected by the outer bracts. A cross section of the internal structure. November 17,...

https://chrisstov.wordpress.com/2013/11/11/cees-blackwhite-challenge-public-transport

Randam thoughts and jottings from a man in Wincanton. Cees Black&White Challenge: Transportation. This week’s black and white challenge is Public Transport. Not a lot of public transport in Wincanton, but we do have buses at least we do at the moment. Let’s get up to the Memorial Hall where all the buses stop and where we catch them. When I say all, we have two main buses but let’s see what up there. There are two or three passengers waiting and that little bus over there is…. Its coming on to rain again.

Festival of Leaves – Week 10 | My Photos

https://chrisstov.wordpress.com/2013/12/03/festival-of-leaves-week-10

Randam thoughts and jottings from a man in Wincanton. Festival of Leaves – Week 10. At the beginning of this week I went out again with my camera to see what had happened to the leaves since my visit last week and I found not a lot of leaves left on some trees while other still retained their leaves. But it is December here in Somerset and not a time to be showing autumn leaves. Winter has begun and so…. Not that you would think so looking up in those trees. Does that picture look winterish? So winter is...

Festival of Leaves – Week 7 | My Photos

https://chrisstov.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/festival-of-leaves-week-7

Randam thoughts and jottings from a man in Wincanton. Festival of Leaves – Week 7. Well, what is the state of the leaves now as we come to the end of the second week of November. Some of the trees I see are golden, while others are green and a few are bare. The leaves are definitely looking golden yellow, with some green here and there. But just here the trees are looking very colourful indeed. Everywhere I look is full of colour, even the sky. That tree up there is…. I see some Ash trees are still green.

Zipline your way to an #instaAdventure…. May 12, 2015. Now here’s a real #DiscoverOverberg adventure…. Time to explore the outdoors! There’s something quite magical about the seasonal shift especially out in the country where you can see fields changing colour, lush green vines turning golden as a wintery chill begins to creep into the air. Fortunately, we still have a few weeks before it’s time to hibernate which is why autumn is the ideal time to get into nature and have yourself an adventure. You are ...

Nature on the Fringes | A writer's quest to find nature everywhere.

Nature on the Fringes. A writer's quest to find nature everywhere. July 15, 2014. Finally, after hours of sitting on the couch, he says, it’s gorgeous outside. Can I open the windows? No, I say. No, because of the previous fly infestation. But he props open the front door anyway, and I feel the rush of cool air in July. I can’t get my shoes on fast enough. The fireflies continue to blink on, blink on, blink on, until, at maximum darkness, they could light a path. The ornamental plant waits for morning.
