Family and church happnins. So, why Denver? Monthly Archives: May 2012. May 10, 2012. With the winter behind us (not that we had much of one), we’re all looking forward to the warmer months, and all it brings. Meredith just came off a very busy season, still working 25 hours each week as the Controller for Open World Learning. This weekend, Mere’s also helping Jason organize and execute another event called the Denver Daddy Daughter Dance. Modeled on a friend’s event in Atlanta. Cassie’s nearly don...

Family and church happnins. So, why Denver? Newer posts →. October 27, 2010. The Malecs are gearing up for the fall and winter months. We went camping in Rocky Mountain National Park over Labor Day weekend, and enjoyed some of our first high altitude views of the season. Last month, we had a number of Atlanta friends join us for the UGA/CU game up in Boulder. We showed up in style, the but unfortunately the Dawgs didn’t show up at all. Just let us know when to wash the sheets! July 28, 2010. May 3, 2010.

Friday, October 22, 2010. Forgetting What's Really Important. I'm currently in the middle of writing a paper for one of my classes, and a thought ran through my head that I wanted to make sure I got down. The paper is for my Apologetics class and my topic is "The Kalam Cosmological Argument". I'm not going to try to explain it entirely here (that's my 7 page paper I'm currently writing). Howevever, here's the basic argument:. 1 Nothing begins to exist without a cause. 2 The universe began to exist. Yep, ...

mattinseminary: August 2010
http://mattinseminary.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. I've never found much interest in the book of Psalm, until recently that is. I've been finding that when God seems distant, the only place we can turn to is the past to remember God's faithfulness. Here's Psalm 77 in The Message. It's the first thing I flipped today, and probably more than enough for me to ponder all week. I yell out to my God, I yell with all my might, I yell at the top of my lungs. He listens. I found myself in trouble and went looking for my Lord;. You showe...

Thursday, January 19, 2012. What I Hate About Christian Blogging. There's something I hate about blogging with the intent to share my faith, journey with the Lord, and the lessons he's taught me. What is that something? Blogs are terrible at communicating these deeply important messages. Don't get me wrong- I have some very awesome friends that have written some incredible things on their blogs. Yet, sometimes I wonder if a blog is a poor place to share my most important messages. A blog can communicate ...

mattinseminary: Picked Last For Jesus' Team
http://mattinseminary.blogspot.com/2011/08/picked-last-for-jesus-team.html
Saturday, August 27, 2011. Picked Last For Jesus' Team. I'm one of those kids. You know, one of those kids that sometimes got picked last at recess to play soccer, football, or basketball. It's a bummer. Imagine watching Jesus on the mountain. "Simon, you're in. James and John, yep." With each name the blood pressure must have been rising in the crowd. Will my name be on there? Matthias and Joseph were the last two men who had been with Jesus and the disciples since the beginning. They didn't give up hop...

mattinseminary: What is Faith?
http://mattinseminary.blogspot.com/2011/08/what-is-faith.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. In Andy Stanley's book, Visioneering, he writes. Spiritually speaking, faith is confidence that God is who he says that he is and that he will do what he has promised to do.". At first glance, this might not seem like that revolutionary of an idea. Sure, we need to believe in God-blah, blah blah. Read it again. ".faith is confidence that God is who he says he is. And that he will do what he has promised to do. So, what should we as Christians do to plug into what the Holy Spirit...
