Croagh Patrick | Nick. Ireland. Adventures

Nick Ireland. Adventures. Nick's adventures in Ireland. I did not realize that I would be climbing a mountain today… but that’s exactly what I did. It is the tallest mountain in Ireland. I climbed the tallest mountain in Ireland today; 5 miles up, 5 miles down. It was the last Sunday in July, which means Christians from all over the world take a pilgrimage to Croagh Patrick. To climb the same mountain that St. Patrick climbed to and reportedly banished all snakes from Ireland. Posted July 24, 2010 by Nick.

Nick Ireland. Adventures. Nick's adventures in Ireland. The westernmost point of Ireland. It has been decided. Ireland is the most beautiful place on the face of the earth. After a breakfast during which I failed at making tea twice in a row (two bags, dummy! We set off on a one-hour bus ride to take a 45 minute ferry ride to see the Aran Islands. The surrounding scenery amazed us; this was the Ireland we all fell in love with, as Laney put it, and our motivation for crossing the Atlantic! With the days ...
Galway at last! | Nick. Ireland. Adventures

Nick Ireland. Adventures. Nick's adventures in Ireland. Seven of my eight great-grandparents crossed the Atlantic straight from Galway. Needless to say, I’ve been anxiously anticipating visiting Galway since I signed up for this Study Abroad trip. When we arrived, I wasn’t disappointed. The old buildings and friendly atmosphere was just what I had hoped for. At one point driving through the town, I counted 7 restaurant bars out of 10 shops in a row. How exciting! Nick Ireland. Adventures. Nick's adventures in Ireland. That being said, here it is: My Ireland Family. Kevin: The roommate who was always more than a roommate. Greta: Sweet, loyal, energetic… did I just describe a dog? Amanda: Nicest girl in the world, but mess with her, and you’re in for a world of trouble, a la her loyal circle of friends. Laney: You know that raised eyebrow thing? Yeah, Laney invented that. Ashley-Beth: Disproving ‘dumb blonde’ jokes since 1988. Joy: She loves bacon. That is all.

Nick Ireland. Adventures. Nick's adventures in Ireland. I found Regina Spektor. Now, we talk about making road trips to visit each other, but with jobs, school, and busy lives, I worry that we won’t see each other very often. I know it will never be the same. Being the only Bellarmine student makes it worse; I won’t see a single friend I made on this trip on a regular basis, a tragedy only Sarah can relate to, as she goes to school alone in Indiana. An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway. August 24, 2010 in Uncategorized. This is why I, a never-ending-learning journalist, came to Ireland. I love the arts and want everyone else to experience the uplifting gift the arts have to offer. The trip began with me scrambling to get a story. I was searching for a story outside my realm, something different. The arts were that story. The end result. A Portrait: My Ireland. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. What A Week…. The day is July 18, 2010, day seven of studying abroad in Ireland! We were almost to the edge of the gate at the Marino when Lauren, Greta, Amanda and Kevin walk back through the gates. While we were all trying to figure out the miscommunication, we see the 123 bus we needed to be on pass by; oh, and then Katie calls wondering where we are. So new plan, wait for Katie and catch the next 123 bus to our destination: Kilmainham Gaol. You ar...

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. Definitely A Galway Girl! The day is Thursday, July 22, 2010. We are going to Galway, finally! I have been looking forward to this for the entire trip, and with good reason. Galway. Is on the west coast of Ireland, and sits on the River Corrib. It is a vibrant place, yet ancient and historic. Galway city, with its seaside suburb of Salthill, is an important tourist centre and a gateway to the scenic areas of the county. Lovely women in Galway City!

It was quite amusing and something we all joked about continuously throughout the trip. Starting location for Dubliners' Walking Tour. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. I’ll Have A Pint! Lets rewind to Monday, July 19, 2010: this is the last full day I spent in Dublin, Ireland with my CCSA group. The start of the day was pretty fabulous because we didn’t have anywhere to be until 2 pm and sleep makes me happy! However, I had to stop by the bank before we all met up at the Guinness Storehouse. We eventually made it to the Guinness Storehouse where Quigley was patiently waiting on us. Welcome to the Guinness Storehouse.
