Poems of a pensive or playful persuasion. Monthly Archives: August 2015. August 24, 2015. When I was not quite a child, but not full-grown. I loved to sit and hear the rain on windows. Or pattering, battering the roof. The rain was a waterfall,. Remote and full of promise. Leading to who knew what magic future. Now I am not a child, and quite full-grown. I sometimes grab a waterproof and wellies. And go splash in puddles,. Though more often I sit and wait,. And wonder will it ever stop. Of rain or sun.

The darker side of night. York in a Day. On May 30, 2014. Pre-empting my 4.45 alarm clock, I crawled out of bed at 4.25am, had breakfast and made sandwiches for lunch. My train departed from Kings Cross at 7.08am, arriving in York at 9.25am, which gave me enough time to find my way from the station to the Yorvik museum, pre-booked for ten o’clock. The darker side of night. All posts for the month May, 2013. On May 8, 2013. I had an appointment at the eye hospital today, which is ironic as I hate going to the doctor unless I’m so ill, I’m nagged and dragged there, metaphorically kicking and screaming. Foolishly, at my last optician’s appointment, I mentioned a couple of episodes of blurred vision and strange zigzagging light in my right eye, which eased after resting with eyes closed for half an hour. The darker side of night. On May 8, 2013. I had an appointment at the eye hospital today, which is ironic as I hate going to the doctor unless I’m so ill, I’m nagged and dragged there, metaphorically kicking and screaming. Thankfully as I grew older the migraines lessened, though the memory still lingers.

Our taxi arrived at 10am, whisking us to Luton airport, though with the North Circular and M1 there is always the worry that it will be a slow crawl rather than a fast journey. The darker side of night. On September 28, 2013. I confess. I’m a technoholic. I love my gadgets – phone, laptop and tablets ( a 7 and a 10 ). Why do you need two? A friend asks, not comprehending that each fulfils a different purpose.
