Lee's Life Adventure: March 2014
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 1, 2014. Big Rides, Big Climbs in 2014. As I sit here drinking coffee on a cloudy and rainy Saturday morning I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to brave the elements on the road or ride in the comfort of my garage. I hate riding the trainer so I’m thinking the road is going to win this one. Here’s what I’m thinking about so far. Now, admittedly some of these may not happen but this is what I’m considering as of today. April 13th – Bottega Gran Fondo. June 8th – Mendocino Monster. You ca...

Lee's Life Adventure: Barista Training
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2015/02/barista-training.html
Sunday, February 8, 2015. In 2012, Sherry and I spent 3 weeks in Italy and part of that time was in Florence. The few days we were in Florence left us wanting much more. Now, we’ve returned with an 11-day visit dedicated to learning the secrets of Florence. The goal for this trip was to go beyond the Uffizi, the David, and the Duomo and really get to know the city. As we were researching things to do we stumbled across something on TripAdvisor. Gabriele showing his technique. After making us coffees, the...

Lee's Life Adventure: The Goal Flexibility Algorithm
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2015/05/the-goal-flexibility-algorithm.html
Monday, May 18, 2015. The Goal Flexibility Algorithm. Yesterday was Sunday, which usually means just one thing to me - recovery rides. For the most part, I’ve spent every Sunday for the last several years going for a nice easy 25 mile recovery ride. Yesterday, I went for a 5 mile run instead. This change can be best explained by the Goal Flexibility Algorithm. A colleague at work casually stated she wanted to run the Ragnar Relay race from San Francisco to Calistoga. This casual statement is all it t...

Lee's Life Adventure: Feeling like a child
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2013/09/feeling-like-child.html
Monday, September 23, 2013. Feeling like a child. This Saturday we had our first rain of the season. And, what was to supposed to be a chance of light rain turned out to be quite a soaking. As you can imagine, the weekly club ride was cancelled since most people do not ride in the rain. However, I’m not most people. I love riding in the rain! I know as we head into winter the weather is going to kick my ass more than once. Saturday’s rain came from the south so it was actually fairly w...Writers and ...

Lee's Life Adventure: January 2014
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 27, 2014. Off to a Great Start. For reasons she hasn’t explained yet, Mother Nature has decided we don’t need winter here in Northern California. Sure, we’ve had some really cold temperatures but we’ve also had many days with record breaking highs. But most notably it hasn’t rained. 160; The fatigue in the legs and lower back were gone and I enjoyed a lovely 33 mile easy tempo ride in weather that required sunscreen and not arm warmers. As long as Mother Nature keeps us in our current w...

Lee's Life Adventure: My Bottega Gran Fondo
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2015/05/my-bottega-gran-fondo.html
Sunday, May 3, 2015. My Bottega Gran Fondo. Last weekend was year 2 for the Bottega Gran Fondo. BGF) It was also the second year for me as well since this immediately became one of my favorite events after participating last year. The event, it’s more than a ride, is put on by celebrity chef Michael Chiarello. Who is an avid cyclist. It’s everything you would expect a ride sponsored by a cycling celebrity chef to be. And the third chef stop, which was at Trefethen Winery. Actually included wine tasting.

Friday, February 13, 2015. Our Italian Soccer Expereince. It all started with the 2010 World Cup. Like many Americans, Sherry and I did not really follow soccer, especially on the world stage. Still, our love of traveling in Europe made us start to think a little differently. I mean, to many Europeans, soccer is everything. So, we tuned in and were hooked from the very first game. However, we had to do a little shopping first. I mean, if you’re going to cheer for the home team you had better dr...Yeah, I...

Lee's Life Adventure: February 2014
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 10, 2014. Well, after a winter that has seen very little rain so far , Mother Nature decided to play a little catch up this weekend. Ok, make that a lot of catch up as Santa Rosa received nearly 6 inches of rain from Friday to Sunday. While there were a few downpours, it was mostly just a good steady rain. Around noon I was going a little stir crazy. Then I read on FB that a friend had run that morning. Why didn’t I think of that? Finally, around 3:00 I gave up the ghost and spent an ...

Lee's Life Adventure: The Rocket
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2015/06/the-rocket.html
Sunday, June 28, 2015. A couple of week ago Sherry and I made a purchase that is the absolute epitome of my nickname in my cycling group. My nickname is Niles (from the TV show Frazier) and the purchase was an espresso machine. Well ok, not just any espresso machine but an extravagant, over-the-top, kick ass espresso machine. The machine we purchased was the Rocket Espresso Giotto Evoluzione V2. Which is hand made in Milan, Italy. The Rocket in its new home. Still needs work but getting there! However, t...

Lee's Life Adventure: May 2014
http://www.leeslifeadventure.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 11, 2014. The American River Trail. Last Thursday was one of those really fun days on the bike. The plans for this midweek mini adventure started back in April when Sherry and I were talking about her schedule. She has meetings in Sacramento once a month so I decided to take the day off and join her. 8221; Still, that’s why I came so as she heads to her meeting I head out on the bike. Now, it was only 6-blocks from the parking garage to Old Town but I still somehow managed to promptly get los...
