The Nist Walkabout: Tennis Anyone?
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009/10/tennis-anyone.html
Our year in Australia. Thursday, October 8, 2009. We would probably play more tennis here in Aus, but there are no free public courts. Everywhere you go you have to pay a fee to hire a court. Bummer. Still, its not too terribly expensive and we've played several times with the Brenners and Stuarts. Always a good way to get some exercise while still having fun. Jon and Paul serving. Megan serving and Lach returning serve. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Narrabeen, NSW, Australia.

The Nist Walkabout: Adelaide and Kangaroo Island...
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009/10/adelaide-and-kangaroo-island.html
Our year in Australia. Thursday, October 8, 2009. Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. A couple of weeks after we got back from the Whitsundays, I had a long weekend planned so that Clarice could get away from work and relax a bit. I had wanted to go to Fiji or one of those islands, but it would take too long to fly there to warrant the expense, so instead we were headed to Kangaroo Island south of Adelaide in South Australia. While KI is not very large, it took another 1.5 hours to get over to Flinder's Ch...

The Nist Walkabout: August 2008
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Our year in Australia. Sunday, August 24, 2008. Outback Excursion 2: Uluru Sunrise. Day two got off to an EARLY start as Paul, our guide, got us up at 5:00 AM to give us time to get ready to leave to be at Uluru for the 6:30 sunrise. It was "brisk" in that it was about 50 degrees outside. When Paul stopped the bus for the long walk, Clarice and I jumped up ready to go. Everyone else sat there probably thinking, "The bus sure is warm and it is pretty early, isn't it? It was so funny. The photos above are ...

The Nist Walkabout: August 2009
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Our year in Australia. Monday, August 24, 2009. City 2 Surf. redux. Oh how I regret those words. This year, having lost 60 lbs and after a few months training at the gym, I was forced to "become an idiot". 2008 - I labeled this pic "The Three Idiots". 2009 - Who's the "idiot" now? Clarice's time last year was a very respectable 1 hour 45 minutes so she set our goal this year at "under 100 minutes" or less than 1 hour 40 minutes. Fair enough for her, except she was holding ME to that goal as well! It NEVE...

The Nist Walkabout: February 2009
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Our year in Australia. Wednesday, February 4, 2009. Why do the call it "Cricket"? One of my many memories of our trip to London and Scotland in 2006 was sitting in the hotel in Glasgow with very tired feet waiting for the Champions League Final between Arsenal and Barcelona to start. (That's soccer, or football, people! When we decided to undertake this adventure in Australia, Paul was determined to take us to a cricket match. The cricket season doesn't really start until December, being a summer spo...

The Nist Walkabout: January 2009
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Our year in Australia. Saturday, January 31, 2009. Day 4 saw us leave Burnie very early in the morning because we had to get to Strahan for our pre-booked cruise around Port Macquarie and up the Gordon River. It drizzled throughout the day, but whenever we needed to get out of the car, or out on the boat's viewing platforms, God blessed us by having the rain stop. It was kind of eerie, but much appreciated! Why does the vast majority of shipping traffic head to Devonport instead? Well, that was day 4....

The Nist Walkabout: July 2008
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Our year in Australia. Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Catching Up.again (I'm Sorry! To all of you who have been so kind enough to yell at me (via email and otherwise) lately about my lack of posts.I'm sorry. I'm a delinquent. I know. A couple of weeks ago we went to the Manly Sea Eagles. Anyway, I have pics, but they are on the camera so I'll have to add them later. We had a great time and Manly won going away. Paramatta scored first, but Manly are the better team and it showed mid-way through the secon...Is co...

The Nist Walkabout: Crusing the Whitsundays... Days 6, 7 & 8...
http://nistwalkabout.blogspot.com/2009/10/crusing-whitsundays-days-6-7-8.html
Our year in Australia. Wednesday, October 7, 2009. Crusing the Whitsundays. Days 6, 7 and 8. Day 6 We had seen all of the places we really wanted to get to, and I knew Clarice's whole point in this trip was to see Whitehaven so I convinced her that a return to Whitehaven was in order. We made our way through Hook Passage and out to Border Island where some of the best snorkeling was said to be found. NOT! From there it was back over to Whitehaven for more fun in the sun! Saw this snail in a tide pool.
