3d scanning for the masses! Over the easter weekend I did a little research project on 3d point data generation from 2d images using cloud computation. The results are pretty spectacular, I'm really excited about this technologys potential not just for scanning/surveying but for digital content creation in general! O̶c̶t̶o̶p̶u̶s̶ October Update! Last week I completed this opening sequence for the BBC 2 series Groundbreakers in the studio. Using PDI and Maya for the fracture effects! The next episode will be aired next Sunday at 21.00 on BBC 2 NI. The past couple of months I've being getting up to speed in Cinema 4D - it is by no means a replacement for Maya but it's capacity to layer effects and deformers is second to none - I was blown away when i first seen this video.
