We went to the Wales v Australia match waving our flag and cheering on Shane Williams and the nippers. We thought it would end happily when Shane scored in front of us but unfortunately it didn’t and we walked home down the famous Ponsonby Road (think of the Gloucester Road if it ran through the middle of Clifton) to our new digs. 72 Hours in Oz.

There must be something in my genes but I can't cheer for the Aussies. We were at Cardiff in 2009 when Monty and Anderson held on, on day 5 to turn a defeat into a draw which, in the end, meant we won the Ashes back. I watched the RWC Final of 1991 at Clarkston RFC. We've just worked out we can go to the massive Italy v Russia match in Nelson. Wednesday, 24 August 2011.

Tuesday, 1 November 2011. 8 hours in a plane and you arrive in a different world where there are more people crammed onto a little island than in the whole of NZ. Everywhere is serious high rise although some are more glitzy than others.
