Tomorrow, Friday, July 4th, 2014, the wonderful pianist Tim Parkinson and percussionist Adam Morris will play an arrangement of it for piano and vibraphone at the groundbreaking and durable annual concert series Music We’d Like To Hear. For more information about the concert, go here. Here’s a little more about how the piece works. 12345 2345 345 45 5.

Jonathan Marmor - MIDI Digester

Monthly Music Hackathon NYC. The Echo Nest Remix API. Comes with a demo, enToMIDI. Which attempts to transcribe any audio file using only Remix’s audio analysis data, and spits out a MIDI file. The purpose of the EN audio analysis data is to provide a summary of the music, not to do the source separation necessary for an accurate transcription. This means the resulting MIDI file usually doesn’t sound much like the input. MIDI Digester is a very small script. Check out this demo.

Monthly Music Hackathon NYC. While I’m sad to see Exfm winding down, I’m so happy to have been a part of building such a fun project. Dan, Marshall, Charles, Lucas, Jess, Kirk, Drew, and Jason are some of my favorite people and I can’t wait to see what they all do next. (Actually, you can see what Kirk is doing already and it rocks: http:/ peggsite.com/jonathan. Posted Dec 20, 2013 at 4:47 PM. Adapted from a tumblr theme by Bill Israel.

Monthly Music Hackathon NYC. There are several traditions in which pieces of music are named after a person. Music can be named after a member of the band, like the Miles Davis tune “John McLaughlin”. Dedications are sometimes used as titles, like Morton Feldman’s “For Philip Guston”. In a future post, I’ll describe the later piece I wrote called “For Jonathan Marmor.” :). I’ll be talking about this music and how it was made at the Automatic Music Hackathon. About the talks, performances, and hackathon.
