I am doing a genealogical search for my Galway ancestors and I was linked to your blog. Anne King is my great-grandmother. Honor King would be my great-grandaunt. Michael Mongan and Anne emigrated to Chicago in 1905 and my grandmother Mary was born there in 1908. March 21, 2016 at 9:11 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
O'Briens in Ireland: County Claire
http://obriensinireland.blogspot.com/2008/03/county-claire.html
Documenting Jim and Jack O'Brien's March 2008 trip to Ireland. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. We still had an hour-long drive after Aillwell Cave to our bed and breakfast for the night - Marless House in Galway. The location of Marless House is great - right across the street from the sea and not far from downtown Galway. Tomorrow will mark our exploration of the coastal towns of our ancestry, which we'll begin with a stop by the Galway genealogy center. THE CLIFFS OF MOHER. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Documenting Jim and Jack O'Brien's March 2008 trip to Ireland. Tuesday, March 4, 2008. Ring of Kerry, County Kerry. About halfway through the trip (the ring in total is about 120 miles) we stopped at the Kerry Bog Village - a bit of a tourist trap that boastas recreated traditional Irish homes with thatch roofs. At the village, Jim got to live out his lifelong dream of petting his favorite dog breed - an Irish Wolfhound. VIEWS FROM AROUND THE RING OF KERRY. KERRY BOG VILLAGE (TRADITIONAL IRISH HOUSES).

Jack's In Europe: Paris Day 2: The Louvre
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/paris-day-2-louvre.html
Sunday, August 10, 2008. Paris Day 2: The Louvre. Last night we hung out around Adrien's neighborhood, got some sandwiches and ate them in the park. We checked out a show by a band that features one of Adrien's friends, and later walked up a series of hilly, curving streets until we reached the steps of the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur. That overlook the entire city. (This is the picture. At the top of the blog page, compliments of Wikipedia). The Louvre, from the outside. Crowd surrounding the Mona Lisa.
Jack's In Europe: Switzerland/Southern France - Day 2
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/switzerlandsouthern-france-day-2.html
Monday, August 18, 2008. Switzerland/Southern France - Day 2. After heading to the grocery store and the boulangerie (bakery) for some breakfast croissants, quiches and lunch supplies, the three of us drove up to a lookout spot about 1/3 of the way up the local mountain for breakfast. Then we drove to Annecy. France (about 30 minutes away) and spent the day walking around the scenic Lake Annecy in the Alps. Annecy. Is reputed to be among the most beautiful places in the world - and it didn't disappoint.
Jack's In Europe: London
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/london.html
Thursday, August 7, 2008. Made it to London alright. Flight was on time and relatively comfortable - I lucked out and got the first row of economy class, so plenty of leg room. I slept most of the flight. Unfortunately, the airline lost my bag (along with an entire cargo crate full of other bags) and I will not get it until sometime tomorrow. Luckily, all my valuables were in my carry-on and my checked bag only contained clothes - still quite a hassle and not a good start to the trip.
Jack's In Europe: Last Day: Back in London
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/last-day-back-in-london.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2008. Last Day: Back in London. The train ride through southern France was unbelievable. Every curve brought a staggering new view of tree-lined mountains juxtaposed to deadly precipices of sheer rock. My flight back to the states is tomorrow at 7:30 am, so I will be signing off now. I have enjoyed keeping the blog of Brian and I's trip and I hope those of you who have read some of it have enjoyed it as well. It was an extraordinary experience. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
Jack's In Europe: Brussels, Belgium
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/brussels.html
Friday, August 15, 2008. We left for Amsterdam on the 14th and decided to say in Brussels, Belgium. For the night, where we had to switch trains. Brussels. We stayed at the Van Gogh Youth Hostel in Brussels which was not too bad, but we had to share the room with two French guys, a German guy and a Turkish guy, who were all a bit odd. Jack's In Europe: Amsterdam, Netherlands
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/amsterdam.html
Friday, August 15, 2008. We got up early this morning in Brussels, packed our bags and headed down to the town square for a Belgian Waffle breakfast. I ordered mine with ice cream and chocolate sauce (apparently not as unusual as it sounds). It was delicious. With all of its canals and historic buildings, Amsterdam has the potential to be a beautiful city, populated by a remarkable number of bicyclers; however, the excessively liberal Netherlands laws regarding narcotics and prostitution attract a notabl...

Jack's In Europe: Geneva: Day 3
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/geneva-day-3.html
Tuesday, August 19, 2008. For our third day in Switzerland, Brian and I hung out around Geneva, tasted the local food, checked out the main shopping streets (watches everywhere), and relaxed lakeside. Remy met us after work near the Geneva train station and we went out for dinner at a fondue restaurant to celebrate our last night of this leg of the trip. I leave for London via Paris on the afternoon of the 19th, Brian will take an overnight train to Venice via Bologna the same night.
Jack's In Europe: London Day 2
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/blog-post.html
Saturday, August 9, 2008. For Day 2 in London, we took the tube downtown and then grabbed the tour bus (ticket is good for 24 hours) and went to the Tower of London. It was an interesting tour, equipped with quite a long history of the English monarchy (mainly a series of rulers torturing people for alternate religious or political beliefs), including the crown jewels (which were a bit anti-climactic). Inside the Tower of London:. View of Tower Bridge from inside the Tower of London:.
Jack's In Europe: Paris
http://jacksineurope.blogspot.com/2008/08/paris.html
Saturday, August 9, 2008. We took our 1:31 train from London to Paris (only a two hour trip) and have now arrived in France. It is a beautiful city with balconies draping every ancient building around every curving street. We are staying with a friend of Brian's who lives in a gorgeous, old fourth-floor apartment that has been in family for generations. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Last Day: Back in London. Switzerland/Southern France - Day 2. Paris Day 5 (Last Day in Paris): The Catacombs and N.

Cha mkufuu mwanafuu hu, akila ha na cha mwanafuu mkufuu ha akila hu. Thursday, February 17, 2011. Three Secrets to Happiness. We all know that money can't buy happiness - but many times we act as if we'd be happier with a bit more money. We are conditioned to want to be rich (when we know the rich aren't happy either); we are trained to want the latest gadget or style that television tells us to want; we want to earn more money because then we'll have the good life. So what will bring us happiness? Akili...

Bom dia, Brasil!
Bom dia, Brasil! Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Last day in Brasil. Yesterday we visited the Se Cathedral - one of the 5 largest Gothic cathedrals in the world. What is weird is that it really wasn't built until 1954. I have always thought of cathedrals as being hundreds of years old. It was very beautiful inside. David hailing a taxi in Sao Paulo Centro.
