The last summer – Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student)

https://ohtheplacesyoullgomed.com/2016/07/07/the-last-summer

Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student). The journey of a Canadian Medical Student. Mad (Scrub) Cap Adventures. July 7, 2016. So, I finished school for the year June 23th, which somehow seems so far away. Since then, I’ve been relaxing with my family; just taking life slow, sleeping in, video games with my sister and bonfires at the shore. It’s been a lovely little restorative break, which is certainly what I needed after school.and as preparation for what is about to come! Follow Blog via Email.

Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student). The journey of a Canadian Medical Student. Mad (Scrub) Cap Adventures. Getting back on the horse vs waiting to be ready. So, I bought a thing. Now, I’m 26 and this is my first car…but it’s also really my first time as a full time driver. Let me explain. So, story […]. November 26, 2016. April snow storms bring…May snow storms probably. 8221; Was definitely the second. So, this […]. The ideal med school pet. How I spent last Saturday: Syrian Refugee Clinic.

2 down and a road trip! – Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student)

https://ohtheplacesyoullgomed.com/2016/12/11/2-down-and-a-road-trip

Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student). The journey of a Canadian Medical Student. Mad (Scrub) Cap Adventures. 2 down and a road trip! So, I’ve finished two rotations of my core clerkship! Peds ER is 8 eight hour shifts in the paediatric hospital ER, which I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would (and a lot more than I like the adult ER). It was fast paced, largely straight forward, and a good variety of things. As for the road trip…. So, I drove to Gander today 🙂. Gander is about 330 km from St...

Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student). The journey of a Canadian Medical Student. Mad (Scrub) Cap Adventures. November 10, 2016. President Elect Donald Trump. So, that happened. I’m a Canadian, but I feel like I need to say something because let’s be absolutely real, the financial crisis of 2008 taught us nothing if not, what happens in the USA affects the whole world. And the USA just elected Donald Trump as president. But I don’t think he will. And even as I type that I hope I’m w...This is an el...

Falling down the clerkship habit hole – Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student)

https://ohtheplacesyoullgomed.com/2016/09/26/falling-down-the-clerkship-habit-hole

Oh, the places you'll go (as a med student). The journey of a Canadian Medical Student. Mad (Scrub) Cap Adventures. Falling down the clerkship habit hole. September 26, 2016. So, if it seems that I disappeared down a hole into the dark abyss this last month, it’s only because I have. Pictorial representation of the first weeks of clerkship. So, here’s some clerkship wisdom for when you just start your own clerkship (from the wisdom of 5 weeks of it). You have just taken on a 12-24 hour/day job, and are s...

Premed Post-mom: Not a Good day

http://premedpostmom.blogspot.com/2015/07/not-good-day.html

Life gets in the way while working towards a future in medicine. Thursday, 23 July 2015. Not a Good day. Today was our first really big packing day. I got a lot done, but I managed to hurt myself badly and I'm currently curled up in bed feeling pathetic. So I allowed myself one (opaque) Rubbermaid bin of special baby clothes and one (small, opaque) bin of baby stuff. All the other baby and outgrown stuff is going to either my friend - who is due at the start of September - or is being donated. The goodby...

And being stuck in school, 4 days a week, 7:30 to 3:30 (excluding late night studying of course). We are now 3/4. Done with summer semester and only 2 weeks (and 2 tests, a paper, and 3 labs) remain! A Journey Through Time: Medical School and All the Scientific (and Life) Knowledge I Gain Along the Way. A Third Done With Second Year! Late Night Musings →. Hell Week is Over! September 18, 2015. We’re back at it and this is definitely (at least for me) the most demanding semester so far! This week we had our first test in every single class….felt like finals week. Now that we’re done, I’ve totally crashed but it’s a nice feeling to have it all over with and done! Let’s hope it goes well! Our parents we...

Premed Post-mom: Limitations

http://premedpostmom.blogspot.com/2015/08/limitations.html

Life gets in the way while working towards a future in medicine. Thursday, 13 August 2015. I take metformin not due to diabetes (definitely not diabetic) but because it's pretty much first line treatment for PCOS and reduces my risk of developing diabetes. I hate it. Absolutely hate the damn drug, but I also REALLY don't want to become diabetic and the risk for women with PCOS is very high. It doesn't usually cause hypoglycaemia, but if you're not careful about planning eating it can. No, lady, I fight t...

Premed Post-mom: Inconvenient Amnesia

http://premedpostmom.blogspot.com/2015/08/inconvenient-amnesia.html

Life gets in the way while working towards a future in medicine. Monday, 17 August 2015. The last time we finished a room I said "I don't care what it costs, next time we will pay for someone to do the seamfilling. I am never mudding a room again.". Then someone came back, said it'd be $500-$600 to mud my office and we promptly said 'nope! We're most of the way through the first coat and I am remembering my words of four years ago. I hate hate hate hate mudding. Die seams, die. Doctor Grumpy in the House.

Premed Post-mom: Hilton

http://premedpostmom.blogspot.com/2015/08/hilton.html

Life gets in the way while working towards a future in medicine. Saturday, 1 August 2015. I had a bunch of travel points so we booked to stay last night at a Hilton and it didn't cost us a cent. I usually stay at the very cheapest option, so this is quite the experience. We had a jacuzzi in our suite. The room was twice the size of my first apartment. Bathroom, little kitchen and dining areas. Living room space. The house is 'meh' - big, but not as nice as I'd hoped. My husband like it a lot. We ...I am ...

oh! the places you'll go | Adventures living overseas

The places you'll go. January 4, 2017 · 2:20 pm. A few weeks ago, I started learning basic code for websites. Which is weird, because coding doesn’t really fit into my conception of the things that I like and the things that I’m good at. Despite my father’s protestations that understanding computers *might* be important one day, I gave up high school computer science as early as I could. Concerning the internet art of the 90s. My big problem with Gomix is that my coding skills are currently very limited ...

welcome

50 Years of Travel Fun. We've been serving oysters to discerning patrons in scenic locations for more than five decades - and by "oysters," we mean "the world." We wanted to say that we've been taking people's breath away, but that sounded more like we were ending lives than making sure people get the most out of them. Marco Polo saw the world - but kept coming home. There's a reason why. There's no place like Venice. Ever wonder what's Australia's actually under? See the world with us.
