A few notes from a luncheon with Prof. Stiglitz | Deduced Reckoning

May 29, 2009. A few notes from a luncheon with Prof. Stiglitz. 8212; bandsma @ 3:12 pm. These are some rough notes I took from a talk given by Professor Joseph E. Stiglitz. Yesterday at a private event. Though I’m sure it wasn’t anything he hasn’t said elsewhere. I would have to agree with him on almost everything. In fact I anticipated almost everything he said simply because I reference the same data and have the exact same interpretations. This downturn is not like others in that there is no room for ...

Milton Friedman optomistic on the US economy end of 2005 | Deduced Reckoning
https://bandsma.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/milton-friedman-optomistic-on-the-us-economy-in-2006
June 11, 2009. Milton Friedman optomistic on the US economy end of 2005. 8212; bandsma @ 4:09 pm. Perusing the Charlie Rose archives I came across this little gem of an interview of Milton Friedman from December 2005. I have a great deal of respect for Dr. Friedman but his praise of the US economy and downplaying of the impact of the rising US debt levels at that time stands in stark contrast to the eventual outcome. Ecoweenies on parade (part 2) | Caulk is cheap

It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. – Yogi Berra. Ecoweenies on parade (part 2). June 21, 2009. Today’s example is Julie Johnston’s comment on Real Climate. I keep thinking that what would actually help is a little bit of urgency, of panic, of fear, of scared-shitlessness on the part of the scientists. These are the people who *know* what is going to happen…. Holy flying leaps, what does it take to get 2500 scientists excited? Difficult for contemporary societies to cope with?

It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. – Yogi Berra. June 15, 2009. The IPCC predicts a warming rate in the tropical troposphere of about double that at the surface, implying about 0.2C to 1.2C per decade in the tropical troposphere under greenhouse-forcing scenarios. That implies the tax will climb by $4 to $24 per tonne per decade, a much more aggressive schedule of emission fee increases than most current proposals. It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future. – Yogi Berra. Ecoweenies on parade (part 3). June 23, 2009. You know, this shit writes itself. Today’s contributor is none other than President Barack Obama. In his press conference today, he threw his support. Behind the Waxman-Markey climate change bill. And he is supposed to be the smartest guy in Washington:. I’m no science whiz but the water I drink hasn’t turned into. In the end I suppose it doesn’t matter. I. Posted by John in IL. Oh, I ...
